    Quickjack BL3500 issue

Hi all, I just purchased the Quickjack BL3500 and in the process of assembly now. I'm at the point in the instructions to fill the reservoir. While unscrewing the cap to the reservoir, I hear something drop to the bottom of the reservoir. With a flashlight, I see a small metal plate...

Oven cleaner to clean a vise?

I think the oven cleaner needs to contain Lye, for it to be a problem on aluminum. Easy Off is a brand that does. The generics may not have Lye.

How to keep a bushing from rotating on a shaft

This is for gearshifter. The bushing will be part of the upper stick and the shaft is the lower, ie, coming out of the gearbox. The bushing is a near perfect fit on the shaft but yet slides and rotates easily. The rotational action is what I want limited, otherwise a 2-3 shift, or 4-2...

How to keep a bushing from rotating on a shaft

Hi all, Looking for some ideas on how to keep a bushing from rotating on its shaft. My original thinking was to carve out some metal from the inner sleeve of the bushing, as seen in the pic, then put down some weld on the shaft and file the weld to fit. Another thought was to cut a...

anyone had their sunken concrete poly jacked

I had something similar done to a front stoop and adjoining sidewalk. I'm not sure if it was a poly jacked job but they drilled several holes in the sidewalk and under the stoop. With a pumping machine, the operator forces some slurry slop into the holes. Done slowly and evenly, some hours...

Duh! Bingo! I had the bolts pretty tight and the holes for the bolts didn't exactly line up so once I made some adjustments, they fold nicely. Thanks!

    Harbor Freight welding table

I just purchased this thing and I really like, all based on various threads here. http://www.harborfreight.com/adjustable-steel-welding-table-61369.html But throughout the various threads on this topic, I haven't found (unless I missed it) a way to make the legs fold up, ie, together, to...

Vehicle Oil Changes: Are you a DIY'er?

Yep, DIY'er here. There was a time I couldn't do it and had to take it to the dealer. As per my routine, I checked the oil after about 1k miles. WTF! I'm a quart low. This car never uses oil. Next oil change I'm able to do myself and, as usual, check the level after 1k miles...

    Lathe on a drill?

Exactly. It doesn't have to be precise, just enough to knock off some material, somewhat concentrically, to fit the M10x1.5 die. Rod is 7/16", just a bit too big in diameter. This is to replicate a Lotus gear stick. The hand drill in a vise - perfect! Thanks all!

    Lathe on a drill?

Hi all, I need to cut down part of a 7/16" solid rod to be able to fit a die cutter on it. I don't have access to a lathe but I was wondering if such a device like a brake hone, but 'opposite', exists where it would attach to a hand drill, or drill press, and cut metal 'downward', or...
