Dumb question about Codes, Rules, and Standards

Well, as is all too common in my computer usage, I've lost track of an interesting (but in all honesty, unimportant) article I read a while back and want to get the jist. I was looking up the NEC and other regulatory organizations and found an article that discussed an organization of...

    Help identifying a tool/device

:( Now THAT is a major disappointment. Thanks for the help guys! Glad I at least now know what this darned thing is...even if I can't swim...let alone own a pool to use it on.

    Help identifying a tool/device

Now THAT is a major change from anything telco related...but, I've never actually seen a pool cover tensioner so I suppose I could be the ?proud? new owner of one? Or I suppose I keep my silly hat on thinking I've got a clothes line tensioner...hmm, *decisions*

    Help identifying a tool/device

The whitish things on the end are plastic and can be removed leaving about a 3/8" hole but the hole in the center pin (ratcheting part) is considerably smaller, roughly 3/16". And my would I feel silly if it's a clothes line tensioner. I'm hoping it's SOMETHING fun or interesting in the TelCo...

    Help identifying a tool/device

Hello all, Long time no see! I found this gadget in a box of old A/V cable and such and am wondering what it is. I think it might go on an OTA TV antenna mast or similar structure but, that may easily be WAY off, again, just guessing. It has a ratcheting mechanism in/on and where better to ask...

Removing a sheared off bolt that's stuck in the threads

Aww man! Now you tell me! I was just at menards yesterday picking up a few odds and ends, I didn't even know such a small little setup existed! (Menards is about an hour drive one way :S) The $300 setup mentioned earlier seemed a touch over what I would want to spend for these [should be] rare...

Getting wireless signal to detached garage

Not reliable. I would second the access point/extender. Basically get another router and set it up to 'jump' the signal from your Verizon router. Later today I may look into the manual for your Verizon and see what it would take, if someone else doesn't give a more suitable, technical answer...

Removing a sheared off bolt that's stuck in the threads

The problem is, I believe I have the 2005 version of the mower that used a different deck (listed as the 'replacement deck) on that series mower. 2005 seems to be the only year they used that odd deck so finding info. has been iffy... It's circled in red on the attached image. Part 5 is the...

Removing a sheared off bolt that's stuck in the threads

You made my day with that! And yep, REALLY wishing I had goats...Tired of fixing up mowers...and THIS mower WASN'T an old POS! (Not a great mower but surely, not bad like the Snapper I WAS working on and sought advice about) I like the way you think sir! I shall price up a decent Oxy actylene...

Removing a sheared off bolt that's stuck in the threads

Re: Removing a sheered off bolt that's stuck in the threads Tried 2 dates with a (light, propane) torch. (No O/A setup in MY shop) The bolt is on a plate at an angle so, although I THOUGHT I drilled it in the center, it is slightly off to one side and as I stepped the hole up hoping a bigger...

Removing a sheared off bolt that's stuck in the threads

Hello again all! I got some advice about a mower deck awhile back and it was great! Got the blades off and spindles rebuilt and THAT mower is working well. But, I've got another mower now needing service (And I thought it was BOATS that were holes you throw money into...). The idler pulley and...

Remove stuck/rusted nut from mower deck

Picked up some anti-seize with all the other stuff. Still debating on rebuilding the spindles to further help avoid this problem but again...money's not there. So far it's new nuts, spacers, and 1 new bearing.... But, anyone know how to measure a bearing? It looks like spindle bearings are...

Remove stuck/rusted nut from mower deck

Great success! One of um' came off without too much persuasion but the other one took a breaker bar on both sides, a 4-foot pipe and every ounce of my 'buck-fifteen pounds. Thanks to all your advice though, sprayed some PB blaster on both sides and let it sit for a bit. Went back and got the...

Remove stuck/rusted nut from mower deck

I wish! An oxy-Acetelyne setup would cost more than the ****** rebuild for the new mower that's inoperable. Long story short, I had a Tuff Torq K46 ****** in a JD mower I bought (used) last summer. Sure enough on the third mowing this season, it stopped while mowing on a hill. With 4 seemingly...

Remove stuck/rusted nut from mower deck

The nut holds the spindle unit in the deck and holds the blade on I do believe. Exploded view of deck is: Parts Tree Snapper 38" Deck Spindle I saw rumors about PB Blaster, Hopefully my local farm store has it (Norby's Farm Fleet). If not, any other suggestions? Also, Unfortunately, I don't...

Remove stuck/rusted nut from mower deck

Hey all, I've searched around on the web but have only gotten a few tid-bits that I've already tried or don't have the capacity to do. I have a mid-'90s Snapper riding mower with a 38" deck. It sat outside for over 5 years but, after some engine work (obviously!), It's up and running. I removed...

Stuey's ToolGuyd site was topic of discussion on local radio station this morning

Awesome! Think Stuey was involved with it? Sounds like awesome publicity. Any idea if the station puts their show online? Also, I am a bit surprised you heard it in the DFW area...Stuey is based out of Ohio as far as I knew so it's pretty cool it's made radio chatter down there. Thanks for posting!

Are the Gearwrench 3/8th Stubby and Flex Stubby ratchet useful?

I have a GearWrench 3/8" stubby and I use it WAY more than I anticipated. A lot of times when you just want to snug something up, a standard ratchet seems to be a bit of hassle if you want to hold it right by the head to speed up getting the fastener in; or to turn the socket with your...

Here is an interesting tool I found:

They're nice in that they don't cam out on phillips or slip out on flat and flake the paint off of the new screw (and scratch the cover). I have a couple but still usually grab a P1. Once you 'get the feel' of screwing them in with a normal driver, you can eliminate this from an already...

Hick is counting down the days tell the first flea market in may!

Good luck at the flea market! they are LOADS of fun, Auctions are even better but, flea markets and garage sales are first-come first serve, Auctions it's "Who's got the deepest pockets" so they can be a bit of a downer if the wrong guys are there. Again, good luck at the flea market and...
