Let me introduce you to the Chinese Craftsman professional stubbys

Wow, that looks to defeat the purpose of a stubby! (obviously). It seems more and more the Marketing crew at Sears is making the choices and not the actual engineers. My question: Why are Allen tools and Menards Master Force tools (and *some* Farm and Fleet Duracraft tools) made in USA and the...

    Can anyone identify these pliers?

@WR250F Mine measure about 7-1/4" nose to handle. (Sounds kinda dirty). The jaws open to 1-1/4" wide at the tip. These feel like really darn solid pliers so I want to figure out what they are! Hopefully you can shed some light. That cable cutter side really is unique and I haven't seen others...

    Can anyone identify these pliers?

Well, I think I have a tad bit more info. but, nothing definitive. It appears that, around the pin it says "DROP FOR" (Obviously, very likely drop forged) and, underneath that, I can make out "TAI" so, these are looking like imported pliers. No Utica's for me :-( The teeth DO seem to line up...

    Can anyone identify these pliers?

@StevenBiars: That opening is what got me thinking these may be better than the average free find. I'll try pulling the handles back later today and see if that reveals anything. @Kevin54: I'll do some checking and see if I can find something from them. Thanks for the suggestion! Looks like a...

    Can anyone identify these pliers?

I may be asking the impossible here but, if anyone would have a vague idea of this, it's you all here. These have to have some considerable age on them but, they are pretty comfortable and feel really, quite solid. They have "Drop FORGED" on them around the center bolt but, the G is pretty much...

Beginners guide to ratchets and wrenches.

Added anchor points for all the terms. Now, if you want to link to a specific term from another thread, it is possible and farily easy. Quick explination and usage: If you want to describe "RHFT" ratchets but don't want to copy/paste the content or describew it again, link to this thread and...

Beginners guide to ratchets and wrenches.

Thanks guys! If you have anything to add, please let me know so I can add it for the community. If you know of something here by a different name, I would VERY much like to know and add it. Proper credit will be give, of course. If I've added your contribution but missed giving correct/adequate...

    Beginners power tool recommendations

A couple people have mentioned Bosch jigsaws. They may very well be better for the budget than the BD BUT, I have not used one so I cannot personally recommend them. However, If I needed a new one, I'd probably get one if you'all are saying they are good---especially if someone's grabbing one...

What are these wrenches used for?

They look to me (and my novice eyes) that they're just speeder bars in specific sizes. Are there any markings on them? With the rust, probably noting discernible but still, are there markings of sorts? Also, don't quote me on that, I'm going off of a guess from the [limitied] amount of tooling...

Just a great find at Sears today...

Thanks for noting that they are not standard 1/4". I would prefer that they are so that they can be cross-mixed but, I suppose the odd size will help me keep my bits with my tool!! I do like using 1/4" drivers as nut drivers though so this is a draw back for sure for my thoughts. But, glad to...

    Beginners power tool recommendations

VERY true. Thank you so VERY much. Great thing is, most decent tools accept most all offerings of bits/blades and quality, some lesser known brands may have proprietary fittings (Had a Ryobi Scroll Saw like that...ick. Ended up putting a lot of work in to make it use regular blades. Pretty sure...

    Beginners power tool recommendations

Hey all, after looking at some new toys, err...tools, I decided to lend a little help. I've run across countless topics/threads about people looking for recommendations on "cheap, decent ________". Well, I'm cheap and I like decent tools...well, did. I've started moving up as needs have grown...

    hand tools for sale

Any ideas/gusses on the brand of the RG6 crimper? Just unloaded a bunch of no-name ones that didn't give a solid, even crimp. Always looking to add more good tools to the box. Normally I just use compression conn.s but, in the sticks you never know....

    Starter tool kit recommendations

Fair enough. I don't encounter "bolts" in most of what I do 'generally' but, when I do, I usually have a set of wrenches in easy reach. I like to avoid adjustable wrenches and many see them as "dead tools" but, on occasion we do all run into that scenario of a perpetually spinning bolt I...

    internet to shop

Ok, this is WAY off topic now. NO, Using couplers IS NOT a violation of policy/standards It IS, however, bad practice to the capacity discussed. I don't own a single RJ45 coupler, not a one. Why? If I need one, I'll just terminate raw cable again. If it's run through the wall, I'll likely put a...
