Mystery bolt and who has the wrench to fit it

I don't have any sockets like this nor the need for any...BUT, for some strange reason, I feel the urge to get a set...what's wrong with me?

Above 1200 Sq/FT My dream shop is coming into it's own...

Hey Bob, glad to see you here and thanks for the appreciation towards my shop build. It's pretty much done now and maybe time to add-on in the future. That's a story for another time, once I get the little lady on board. The old GTO in the shop is a bit if an odd one. Its an AC car, power...

    Show us your welding projects

Nothing specific. My brother brought over some horseshoes and said..."lets make a cowboy. He's not artistic nor a fabricator, but knew I had the tools. I had had a welder for many years at that point and had built plenty of booger welded projects...all of which required extensive grinding and...

    Show us your welding projects

Thanks for the compliments...I'm really glad you all like it. I get the urge once or twice a year to let the right side of my brain de-bunk and these are the results. I tried doing one for sale and it's just not the same as doing one as a gift for a close friend or family member. That one...

    Show us your welding projects

This is a very cool thread. There are some great and complicated projects here. I don't know much about welding, but it doesn't take much knowledge to weld like this...I call it booger welding.

    Tools that you miss

I had a set of 3 Boxer Ratchets once upon a time. Thanks to thieves...I no longer have them nor the $15,000 worth of tools that were also in the shop. They were not the strongest ratchets in the box, but they were great for putting together painted parts due to the plastic surrounded handle...

I need a vise to abuse on the cheap.

Budget, those are both good ideas and may be the only low end options. I have had mixed luck with welding cast iron, but both my current vices have had either broken jaw repairs or permanent jaw placement by welding. This makes me wonder if welding up the vise in question can lengthen its life...

How to eliminate flats on yard carts and wheel barrows?

IF you could get expanding foam to nicely fill a tire (it can be done with similar techniques used for urethane fill tires)..it will crush under common loads and become a tire full of foam dust or a lop-sided annoyance. It's just not flexible or strong enough. Slime works well for me, but...

I need a vise to abuse on the cheap.

I have almost wore out my $20 garage sale vise and want a new one. Problem is, I do not want one that swivels at the base (or otherwise)...stationary vises I think they area called...and all the cheapos are swivel this and that. I will spend a bit more, maybe twice more, than the common Harbor...

    Index Card Cabinet Storage Ideas?

That's going to be HEAVY full of hardware, but what a great find. I have small two drawer unit like that. (I screwed it to the underside of my workbench and keep clean shop towels in it.

Hanging Drop Light location and type

I think you will be happy with the Bayco's. I have two of the retractable cord units (no light) and have been using them for 8 years now. I opted for the extension cord type over the droplight type because I have more corded applications than need for drop lights. When I do need a light, my 6...

    Cheap Toolboxes

I have a variety of boxes with drawers (8 for sure)...Craftsmen, Waterloo, and a couple unknowns. I live near a town where they were all made (Sedalia Mo.) at the same factory. It has since been bought by Stanely. I am very happy with them. I purchased them at an employee-and-guest scratch...

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Channing again...Not-So-Right side up! The mastiff mixes are awesome, but I think next go around I'll skip the Boxer half. Too big of a dog for such small hips. He tends to gimp around more than he'd like.

convert utility sink into parts washer???

I've often thought of making such an animal out of left-overs, but could never get past the space that it would end up needing when not in use. I also worried about McGiver'd bits and pieces leaking the spirits that I would have used for solvents. Given that you would be using much safer...

    Tiny Workshop Inspiration

Space saver tips... 1.) Should you decide to hang tools on the wall/s...use nails or screws NOT peg board. Peg board may be convenient, but it wastes alot of space. I can get twice as many wrenches hung in the same space as peg board, a lot more of the smaller ones. 2.) With that kind of...

Can Anyone Weld a Vice Nut?

No, not a Flicker'er. After the PB catastrophe...I like to use the forum's photo posting thingy-ma-bobs.

Can Anyone Weld a Vice Nut?

I thought that was pretty funny joke until I tried to see the photo...Bodj was not kidding...still pretty funny. It probably got flagged due to the name given to the photo by the OP.

    Auto Batteries

I have always bought the Interstate Batteries when not in a pinch and they last for their warranty and then a bit more. You get what you pay for. I bought a Duralast Gold battery once...10 years ago. It had the typical 5 or 6 year warranty. It still works like a champ starting any one of my...
