Craftsman homeowner series a bust, need recommendation on cheap toolbox

Thank you all for the advice (and especially for the 20% off coupons). I took a look at the Harbor Freight box today and really liked it. Ended up picking up their last one. They had already sold 3 today. The drawers take a bit of a tug to open or to close completely, but are very smooth...

Craftsman homeowner series a bust, need recommendation on cheap toolbox

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. From reading here it sounded like the HF box was going to be one of the better cheap options. The roller by itself would be plenty of room for now. Moparhound, I'll PM you for that coupon. I have a coupon to buy it for $339 I think, but no % off coupons...

Craftsman homeowner series a bust, need recommendation on cheap toolbox

My lovely wife got me the 3 piece Craftsman homeowner combo for Christmas. I opened the roller cabinet tonight and the bottom two drawers won't work because the metal brackets to hold the sliders are bent the wrong direction. They can probably be bent back, but I'm not sure how well the thin...

    Sears Gearwrench Sale

My store still had quite a few boxes of the 18pc sets from the black friday sale. Didn't see any of the $5 raised panel sets though.

    Sears Gearwrench Sale

Thanks Fedwrench. Looks like I'll be braving the crowds and the snow tonight then. :) I don't really need it, but I may have to pickup a metric set while I'm there. It's a cheap way to fill in the 11, 16, and 19 that are missing from the 8 piece sets I already have.

    Sears Gearwrench Sale

Anyone know for sure how long this sale is good for? I have a set I purchased at the $29.99 price I need to get adjusted and will wait till after Christmas if it's good for the rest of the week.

Sears DOD- 85% off titanium blue set

I don't think anyone complains about the thin profile ratchets. Those seem to be very nice and are about the best ratchets that Sears carries. It's the raised panel ratchets they include in all of their sets that everyone hates.

Pretty good deal I think, Proto ratchet 5 left

$4.92 for a 1/4" Big Dawg is a great price. Too bad Grainger never actually seems to have any of the clearance items. It's just mean of them to get my hopes up. :)

    Craftsman "Cobra" Pliers Sale

I could be wrong, but I don't think Knipex makes slip joints.

    Sears 48 Hour Sale! 12/10-11 Weds/Thurs!

Has anyone noticed they list a 14pc 1/2" drive set for $19.99? Is this the normal sale price of $19.99 for either the 9pc or the 5pc sets individually or are they actually combining them together for that price?

    Craftsman Professional Flare Nut Wrenches

I think I saw that they're going to be $24.99 during the next craftsman club days.

    Brand New Snap-on F80 $65.00 Shipped!

I think you can still get cash back from live.com which would make ebay a little cheaper.

Recommend a car that is easy to work on

The old Ford pre-Powerstroke diesel trucks are about as simple as it gets. All mechanical, no computer control. The 6.9 liters are probably the most rugged once you bypass the glow plug controller with a manual switch. The 7.3 gets you a better glow plug system and overdrive at the cost of...

Motorcycle owners / hex bit socket

I've only had one case where I had to have a long bit. It was adding an aftermarket rear rack and two of the mounting points were tucked back inside the bodywork. I may have been able to make it work if I had a 1/4" socket and extension, but there was no way a 3/8" extension was going to fit. I...

    GJ made me do it...

What chain tool is that? Looks a lot beefier than anything else I've seen. Does it rivet too or just break and press?

Decent price on 1/4 SAE GearWrench set

That was quick. I had seen it for over $20 for a while and when it went to $18 I bit. I still don't understand Amazon pricing, but they seem to have some decent deals if you're patient.

Decent price on 1/4 SAE GearWrench set

GearWrench 80325 22-Piece 1/4-Inch Drive Standard/Deep SAE Socket Set Currently $18.41 The shallows are 12 point and the deeps are 6 points. I'd rather have all 6pt, but it still seems like a good deal. I'm really impressed with the fit and finish on the 1/2" metric set I got from Amazon...

    Torx Sockets

Japanese bikes don't seem to use many Torx connectors. None of the ones I have use any. My new one uses quite a few female hex fasteners. From what I understand BMW does use Torx pretty extensively.

    Ratchet design question

It sounds like your looking for something like GW's Vortex sockets.
