Interested in the cost of solar and payback time ?

As stated earlier, grid tie and off grid are completely different scenarios. I'm building in an off grid location and I currently expect there will never be a payoff or a payback. Panels last a long long time, 10 years or so for the batteries but the inverter and charge controller is anyone's...

MK Morse "cold cut" chop saw

My friend has one which I've used quite a bit. It is pretty similar to my Evolution. Works well but can certainly tell when the carbines are chipped or missing. Blades are kinda pricey and the metal chips make quite a mess. A magnetic duster is worth it weight in gold. Oh yeah, wear hearing...

Aluminum gantry or I beam load capacity?

I have a steel beam Wallace 2 ton gantry. It's 25ft long on swiveling casters. It's not too bad to move around if you have decent concrete. I agree that aluminum would be much nicer though.

    Off-grid property, need power

My crawlspace will be ICF, but not sure on the pump truck yet. Its a 4 hour round trip for them. But it doesn't sound like fun dropping in the mud from a chute either and not enough hands on deck. So I'm continuing my research and looking into pre wired split phase inverters from Magnum or...

    Milwaukee Power Tools Deal Permathread

I'm pretty sure the nailers are identical and you can just change the magazine to 30°. Maybe something to consider. I'm looking to do the same thing since I have crates of different nails but dont use a nailer enough to justify both styles.

    Milwaukee Power Tools Deal Permathread

I have the fan and run it on level 2 or 3. I use 9ah batteries and get two nights out of it. The AC adapter is a nice touch as well.

Best way to level a large area?

Yes, build up the grade with crushed stone, level and compact. You may find it easier to rent a better bucket or grading attachment for you skid steer. I would rent a plate compactor while your at it and compact what you have done prior to building up pad for stone and then use the same...

    Miter saw quick attach brackets

I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a universal mounting brackets for a miter saw stand made out of square tubing. I have only seen them available for round tubing or extruded aluminum stands. I'm working with an old, never used Craftsman stand.

    Hydraulic pump (porta power)

Yep, gotta bleed them of air. Keep some fluid handy as the fitting will always lose some oil. I have a 10 ton Norco and a no name 20 ton setup. Both needed a top off after purging air and hooking up hoses.

    Insurance on extensive tool set

I wish I would of had coverage for my tools when my parents shop burned down. My wife is currently looking into insurance for my tools and related equipment. Its hard to say how much coverage one would need without overpaying. I'm sure if I lost it all again I'd be looking at a 75k loss.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Almost all my air tools are obsolete and rarely ever used anymore. Corded tools are nearly there for me too. Wish I had a nice way of organizing my cordless tools. Nice job

I did a similar thing at Blaine's . Miter saw, jigsaw, oscillating tool, circular saw and impact driver. Free battery with each tool.
