PEX confusion - is this just marketing?

I installed Pex A. They require an Uponor style fitting as well as the collars and a special expander tool. I have yet to see any of this stocked at a local big box or chain hardware store. The flow will be better and is the reason I am using. Pex B is your more commonly available tube and you...

Would you buy a used torque wrench?

All mine are used CDI units under various rebadge. I sent them to fastenal and they send them out for recalibration. I only have them calibrated upon purchase since they are a sporadic use item. One of my last purchases was a Wright 3/4 drive 600lb unit I got for a few dollars since it was...

Keeping rain water from under deck

I have a similar issue. My plan was to grade the ground to drain away from the foundation and deck. Then place leftover vapor barrier on grade and cover with crushed stone or washed rock.

Pipe vs. Tube bending, part II

Essentially what you are working with is exhaust tubing. You would be best served with a tube bender with the appropriate die. The manufacturers have different radius dies available for each tube size. These benders are expensive. You may get by with a cheap harbor freight type bender but...

    Welding a Polypropylene slip tank.

I have a 450 gallon Polypropylene slip tank used for wildland firefighting. The tank is in great shape however the top of the tank has a split at the weld. Someone had previously tried to repair using a soldering iron it appears. The repair area is several inches long. I assume the tank is...

    Well Tank sizing

Get the biggest tank you can physically fit in the location. For reference, my tanks are located in my crawlspace. I have 2 86 gallon tanks and don't regret it on bit. Keeps the pump happy, and being off grid it really helps to not have to cycle the pump as frequently.

    Breather in auxiliary fuel tank

Get rid of the cap and cap adapter. Buy a 2" close ****** and a pipe cap. Drill and thread top of cap to the appropriate size. Buy suitable breather from McMaster. I hate those caps, they are much like today's crappy gas cans.

How would you prevent a "stainless steel" toolbox from rusting?

My Costco box sits in a horse trailer that is exposed to weather. Tools rust but the box does not.

Anyone know generators? Generac 15k flashing overspeed light.

Two of my neighbors have these units. Both had issues with the throttle body coming loose and the linkage arm flipped over 180° and caused overspeed issues. Both were LP units. Worth checking I suppose.

Multiple outlets on 3 way switches

Thank you very much for that. I have plenty of 14/2 and 3 on hand. This was what my mind logically came up with minus the neutrals part. Can you elaborate on the reason of not needing the neutrals? I have never dealt with 3 way switches before and between these receptacles and several other 3...

Multiple outlets on 3 way switches

I'm looking to install LED shop type lights in my crawlspace. I have 2 entrances to the crawlspace and need a switch at each location. The lights are linkable and each has the ability to plug into a receptacle. I have 5 15 amp receptacles planned for the 10 lights. What is the easiest and most...

    Generator blowing out oil

I'm betting it's due for a valve adjustment and the rings are possibly gummed up with a heavily carbonized combustion chamber. I'm running my Honda eu3000i until it blows. It has major blowby do to the valve train being out of adjustment and makes an oily mess everywhere. But I would have to...
