Good wrench rack/organizer for snap-on long wrenches?

Ernst has racks that hold 20. If you're looking for the kind of rack that stays in your drawer instead of lifting out, I prefer the individual rails to the pre-molded "V" shape because you can make a "right triangle" layout instead of inverted "V's" for a much more space efficient design.

Lets see pictures of your tool box organization

These are Ernst racks, I think you get the most amount of wrench in the least space while still being able to grab just one at a time; important if you're **** about keeping 'em clean like I am (just a hobbyist, couldn't do this as any kind of pro): You can see some more drawers at this...

    A Nightmare For Merkava!

If I did that, I'd have a second set of tools. (I have done some parts pulling and use my "away" bag.) When getting back to the garage, I would then use the first quality or high polish set. Grease and dirt are fine; tools won't get tossed in a heap at that point, and each one will be cleaned...

Spray Paint vs Cheap Paint gun quality?

Anything sold as a paint sprayer will be able to handle solvents, so plastic is fine. You will save a ton of money over time not using cans. Buy a quart of oil-based enamels in the most used colors and a gallon of mineral spirits and you can spray forever with results that will be at least as...

    What's after your air compressor????

Mine goes into a Dayton cooler, then a separator that can be seen down by the floor to the left of the compressor, then about 40' of rubber hose to another separator and regulator, used primarily for painting. It requires a lot of near continuous use to get much of anything out of the final drain.

painting ceiling and walls what color and finish?

Flat paint is the least reflective; the same as it would be on a car finish. No one gloss attracts dirt any more than another, but the glossier finishes clean easier, again, just like a car. However, large areas of gloss paint can be a little harder on the eyes because of the reflections. A...

showdow toolbox on the cheap ***update***

I'm not sure it's just moisture that would cause that. The standard gray foam, such as 98riv links to is used for massive quantities of goods, including things like high end electronics and electronics servicing tool kits, and is also an open cell foam. Maybe there's a chemical compound in...

Structural Insulated Panels or Std 2x6 construction?

Either a) the pro insulators are talking about more that 2" of foam is a waste in terms of infiltration stopping abilities only, which sounds about right, and that the rest could be made up of less expensive fiberglass, or b) you need to talk to some pro's who are actually knowledgeable. The...

Structural Insulated Panels or Std 2x6 construction?

No, I have no interest in any form of construction, I thought I was merely trying to present a balanced approach when considering any and all methods for building anything. Initial cost is of course important to most people, but only each individual can decide how much weight to give that...

Making an old tool cart with fresh paint look older again...need advice.

It depends on how beat you want to make it. You can start gently (and easily reversible) by rubbing it down with black or brown shoe polish. Buff it off; it will stick in cracks, crevices, corners, pinholes in the paint, etc. Then dust it heavily with a soft paintbrush dipped in rottenstone...

Structural Insulated Panels or Std 2x6 construction?

You made yourself clear. Others have stated that costs are typically in line with other forms of construction. That is generally the current case in my part of the country as well. Perhaps your bid or your locale is more of an anomaly as you had already stated.

Structural Insulated Panels or Std 2x6 construction?

I think you need to consider the total short and long term costs. SIP construction is usually price competitive with stick built. It beats stick built in erection time which will save you money if you're on a construction loan waiting for an occupancy permit for permanent financing. If the...

    What drill to get?

How about made in the U.S.A.? I find this Porter Cable extremely handy doing home restoration/renovation work. Great for mixing small batch concrete, stirring/mixing drywall mud, and getting between studs/joists with big hole saws. It's heavy, but massive torque. The right angle attachment is...
