Running generator to house? Why is a 50 Amp connection all that I can use?

Im surprised code allows the unit that close to a wood fence - but in any case those are really sweet units. I went with the air cooled 20KW Kohler, I really like the lower RPM water cooled unit you have, but not dealing with coolant also has upsides. Our power here is so crappy I put 100...

Running generator to house? Why is a 50 Amp connection all that I can use?

Yes you would be breaker limited vs connector limited if the genset is built that way - your genset puts out 39.5 amps so you can overload the 30 but not the 50. Not all Gensets are breaker limited like your seems to be. Using the 50 amp plug at least powers both legs of your place.

Running generator to house? Why is a 50 Amp connection all that I can use?

Sure - preface by saying Im not an electrician just a guy with lots of generators RV's and experience with them. You can look at a 50 AMP plug as two 120 volt circuits with each circuit carrying up to 6KW. If you look at a nema 14-50 it has a hot, a hot a neutral and a ground in in the plug.

    Show your new tool arrivals

So far so good, its a sweet little machine. I would have upped to the 600 if they had it available, but I needed to put something place this weekend. I ended up running it at 1/4-1/2 throttle for most of the time anyway so I didnt ned the extra pressure.

    Shop towels sustainability

Only a machine with an internal heater will process shop rags without leaving gunk all over your internals. Machines with high water heat completely eliminate the need for bleach and blast clean grease and grime. Horizontal axis washers use less water that top loaders and achieve a higher...

Ever seen one of these? Odd adjustable wrench...

This very odd wrench is the only physical reminder I have of a 30 year long friend. Its surreal in many ways. I have pictures and memories of him but nothing of his but this. Well this and a hodgepodge box of scattered tools everyone else picked over and the remainder made it way to me with a...

How do large portable generators (inverter) handle low loads?

Eco mode on is as close as it gets to "idle" - there is no slower speed.

Definition of SnapOn Dual 80 Technology?

Tooth count and pawl engagement points are only part of the formula. Neither actually matter if you cant get a click because of back drag. Snap on does a great job. Compare to a Ko-Ken thats theoretically inferior on paper BUT actually gives you the click you need.

How do large portable generators (inverter) handle low loads?

If it works like all of my other inverters then 1/4 load is basically what it puts out idling. So 1750 watts is your baseline output, it wont ramp up RPM until you draw more power. The smaller genset would use marginally less fuel at idle.

    Makita Addiction Thread

My old but new to me Makita 08 zips off all the stuff I have. To own things is to have them superseded by newer better models.....never any skin off my nose. Seinfeld does a great skit about cars and women - seems right after you make a commitment the new faster sleeker models come out.

    Makita Addiction Thread

Agreed - the 18 does fine in a maintenance fashion. As long as you aren't clearing vines, or woody stalks it will buzz through grass and weeds with ease. on the 36 V Unit - The Mrs. says its about the same weight and even better performance than the Stihl FS-70

    The (unsexy) Washer/ Drier Thread . . .

Any washer that does not have an internal heater that can sustain 140+ for 10-15 minutes will have some mold somewhere. Watch a few "clean my washing" machine threads to see whats behind that drum.,.,,.,, An internal heater does wonders for cleaning really dirty clothes and keeping whites...

What prevents you from buying additional tools?

A combination of need and want. If I want a tool I seem to convince myself I need it. If I need it I usually just buy it.
