Air compressor - plumbing and Aftercooler

I am finishing up on this in my shop. I used copper pipe after researching the alternatives. I’d never sweated copper before but it was pretty easy. It will keep the lines more clean than black pipe or galvanized.

Rain leaks on new build. How to handle

What caulk/sealant should be used on the flashing? I'm having some minor leak issues around a few of the windows on my shop and plan to attack it by sealing the flashings.

Not sure exactly sure what this is(compressor related)

Bringing back on old post. I recently bought an old Curtis E50 compressor that's in great shape. It also came with one of the aforementioned HB 502 Regulators. Did anyone ever figure out what media to use in them or if they're even usable given how old they are?

    Curtis e-50 air compressor econoline

So, I bought it. It runs like a top, and I can’t believe how quiet it is. It runs at a very low rpm compared to many of the newer compressors. Prior to buying it, I tested it by running from empty to when the pressure switch shut it off at 155 psi. It took just over 6 1/2 minutes to fill the...

    Curtis e-50 air compressor econoline

Parts are all still available. It's single phase with a Baldor motor. Pump is two stage rated for 17.4 cfm and max 175 psi. I think I might pull the trigger on it at $400

    Curtis e-50 air compressor econoline

What would an old one in working condition be worth? I know Curtis is a great name in air compressors. There's an old "econo line" 80 gallon that I know is for sale in working condition. Here's a pic of a similar one at this link. https://www.purplewave.com/auction/121031A/item/M9008 Anything...

Remotely Control Circuit in Garage that is on Separate Sevice

This should work. I’m thinking of buying it to operate the exterior lights on my shop that’s about 40 yards from the house. Wireless Switch 400ft Long Range Wide Voltage 85~265V Large Load Remote Control for Lights Pumps Water Heaters (1 Remote)...

It’s hard to get a better value than the Hobart mvp line.

    Buying a welder...

The Hobart MVP line is probably the best bang for the buck. They're basically Millers that use yesteryears technology instead of the latest and greatest (transformers instead of inverters), but they're time tested and do a great job. Can use 120 or 240 volts. I bought a MVP 210 earlier this...

    Basement Dampness / moisture

If you're looking to buy now, this is your one chance to get it right on this purchase. Stay away from any basement that has ever had flooding or seepage. Sellers will often disclose it but state they have fixed the problem that caused it. Don't believe them. If a basement has flooded once...

    Lift Installation

I picked mine up at a freight terminal. They used their forklift to put it on my flatbed trailer. Once home, I unpacked it on the trailer and moved each piece individually. For my two post lift, it took me and my teenage son to move each post using floor jacks and moving dollies.

Derek weaver offers a lot of bang for the buck.

    Hoists

Definitely go full size two post. As for garage parties, you could easily put the lift arms out to support a piece of plywood and put a table cloth on it for a bar or table at any height you want. We’ve done something similar with our lift for garage parties.

    Build on this existing slab?

Mine was built on a 6” slab like that. It’s 30x60, 12’ walls and 2x6 construction. I’m in KS and many outbuildings are frequently done this way on a slab. May be different in other parts of the country depending on soil or base that the slab is on as well as weather. Your best bet is to find out...

    240 circuit with multiple receptacles?

Looks like I’ll put in an additional breaker and circuit. Was hoping to avoid it, but I’d rather do it right. Thanks for the good advice.

    240 circuit with multiple receptacles?

Right now I have a 240 volt circuit coming off a 50 amp breaker to a NEMA 14-50 receptacle. I have my lift plugged into that outlet and hard wired to the lift via 10-3 SOOW cord. I’d like to add an additional outlet near my lift to run my welder. I’ve done plenty of work with 120 lines, but...

Above 1200 Sq/FT T-Handles Workshop (The final destination??)

I've been to Oulu a few times. I lived in Finland for a couple years in the early 90's. During that time I moved around a bit and lived in Kemi, Tampere, Imatra, Kerava, and Kuopio. Kun asuin Suomessa, ma puhuin Suomea sujuvasti, mutta en ole puhunut Suomea pitkaan ikaan. Anyway, Finland...
