The Prentiss jewelers vises are my favorites but the Wilton baby bullets are a close second.

Thanks guys for the kind words. i have a lot of vises but these little ones are my favorites. By my third Prentiss vise I knew I was hooked.

That’s a beautiful vise but its not an early model. I would say it’s from the mid to late 30’s

I just got a couple of interesting Prentiss jewelers vises. The #31 has 1-3/4” jaws and most of the original nickel plating still intact. The rear jaw swivels freely and the front stamp is well struck. The #39 has 2” jaws and was an earlier model with the round spindle.

Yes, the cat page I posted was from the 40’s when the four hole base Reed vises were available. I checked some earlier catalogs and didn’t see them listed. The four hole stationary Reed vises have quite a following, I know a few people that collect them.

RTM, I don’t believe that style of Reed with the four hole base had the beard. I’m pretty sure they were clean shaven From the factory.
