At 15 years old I would have chosen the "new" set. When I got my dad's tools at a much older age, they became sentimental items that I wouldn't trade for the world.
I still hear him screaming at me to put them away every time I go to use one of his things.
I love the VCT look. Great job. I'll be following in your footsteps one of these days...
rwhite692 - I'm also in the central valley. No problems with the heat causing tiles to lift?
Just for some more "wow" factor, have you considered running a couple LED strips inside the xmas tree that will provide some light for your gauges? Or did I skim over that part?
The workbenches with 2 wall cabinets are 389.99 at my local Costco. They look and feel really well made and sturdy. I've considered getting 2 of them in the past, but never pulled the trigger.
One of the auctions showed a tag that had the website as workstationpro.net.
Unfortunately, it's just one page.

Thanks, but I've already drooled over his set up. I was hoping to find a direct replacement. I've looked on McMaster Carr's site but couldn't find anything that I thought would work.
My set up will be for only home use. It won't have any engines or trannies sitting on it.
Without going through this whole thread, has anybody found suitable replacement feet to ditch the casters?
I like the height with the casters on and want to do a workbench set up, but don't really like the looks with the casters on (minor I know).
I just went through the past auction results and looks like the 10 foot workbenches (20 drawer) went from $1700 - $4500. The higher prices were at an Auction at Grand Prairie AB, CAN.
I've registered to bid online with them. From their e-mail to me:
I'm going to watch it, but if they go for...
I'm interested as well. I've been thinking about buying one of those pre-designed/built units, but the cost is substantial, so I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
I have that same unit. First tool box I ever bought myself. I think it's actually called a "project center".
You can kind of see it in the background of this shot.
