Whats up guys. I had two questions for the community especially for those who have lathes and experience with lathes. I am going to attempt to build the David Gingery lathe. It is the only way I will be able to obtain a lathe for under $200-$300 smackers. I wanted to ask how important would a...

    Work Bench Outlets.

2ManyProjects I am referring to welder input when I say 20 amps. A 20 amp circuit is required for my welder. I think you are taking it as my welder has a 20 amp output. I just wanted to clear that up.

I can do it myself. I know how and most likely will have to later he some what finishes but I have other jobs to do. The owner of the house is my mother and her boyfriend is doing the work which I warned her about.

Better yet, I have the pics. This is the liquid nail on sheet rock stone application. This is where he went to auto zone to get RTV sealant and apply it onto the drain connection because it was leaking and it is still leaking. Can anyone kind of sympathize with me here. This guy literally...

Well if you saw this guys work I'm sure you would be upset. He made a cabinet and didn't level it when nailing it to the wall so the top is tilting forward and left it there until I mentioned something. So his fix was to add about almost one inch thickness of caulking from the cabinet to the...

    Work Bench Outlets.

Sorry, I admit I can be unclear at times especially on the internet. I initially installed a 10 gauge wire for future upgrades. I am double sure about my welder's capacity also, unless the manufactures manual is lying. The circuit was setup with 10 gauge wire for when I get my 220v welder and...

    Work Bench Outlets.

Well my welder doesn't use more than 20 amps that is why I am thinking of using 12 gauge off of the 10 gauge circuit/outlet. I have a 10 gauge circuit with a 20 amp outlet and breaker on that circuit. As far as the breaker panel, what I meant to say is the service wire that comes from outside...

Never mind I think I'm good. The breaker panel service has thicker gauge wires and it gets stepped down in gauge so I don't see any problem doing the same thing from an outlet.

I had one more question. Could I add a 12 gauge circuit off of a 10 gauge circuit near my work bench? The 10 gauge circuit is only dedicated for when I use my welder.

Sorry I do not know what I do is collect every picture of garages from here and save them to my pictures folder so I don't have anything that ties them to the owner.

2ManyProjects thanks for taking the time clarify it up for me. When I first started this thread I thought it was either a series circuit something like x-mas tree lights or a parallel circuit. I guess I cannot count a receptacle as load. I get what you mean now about 20-amp outlets not being...

Bjm364 I'm glad you mentioned pigtailing because I was going to install it threw the tabs I forget about pigtails all the time. Bib Overalls I'm confused here I know you are saying to run 15 amp receptacles on 12gauge circuit but what is back wiring?

Those power strips are nice, that would be my first solution for 15 amp stuff however I have everything I need to build my circuits and outlets for free plus I'm going to add mix match 15-20 amp outlets threw out the area. Rocket79 I do appreciate the way you broke it down it is always good to...

    Work Bench Outlets.

I want to route a bunch of outlets near my work bench so I can have power every where. Something similar to a power strip but instead I'm going to use like 3-4 wall outlets in various locations some what near each other. I have never done this before but I'm assuming all I have to do is run the...

    Garage Re-Organization....My Turn

Man nice garage when I get my own one day I would be very happy if it looks similar to that. It has just the right amount of space, 2 bays one for a lift and a back door plus space to walk around the cars nice build good luck.

United States of America New Bedford Mass home of the new world series champions <cough> I forgot to mention this is the same guy who wanted to install a 20 amp outlet onto a 15 amp 14 gauge circuit. I had to tell him not to do that and his response was he did it in his house and it works. o.0...

Thanks guys. I agree with your point chamoisfive. I have mentioned that to my mother but when I bring up code it's like they are looking at me like (here we go again) type of an attitude. It pisses me off because they think I'm just trying to be an ***. This is pretty much what I

Hey guys whats up. Someone is working on my mothers house and he is not going by code. He routed a few switches and a junction box maybe a little bit more. He installed a junction box on the wall and routed the wire on the outside of the wall instead of the inside. Can anyone give a good reason...
