That's because they only carry 1 or 2 per store. Kinda ridiculous. I went to the local Sears and I didn't see them. I checked online and it showed they had 1 available. I called up and the guy looked and found 1 3/8 and 2 1/2 ratchets just sitting in the back. I went and picked up the 3/8.

How much for the flying v or the rotohead?

I might go check it out next week when I'm home for Xmas. Gives me an excuse to see a friend who lives off Jamboree. Wonder if he's willing to budge on prices. I like the big Parker and Monarch. He's a collector though. Must be 100 bicycles.

I would try soaking in PB blaster and try again with some vise grips.

Congrats on your new vises! This site is real addicting. I've also picked up 2 vises recently and am always looking for more. Crazy.

Looks great. Don't paint it. Here's a question. What size are the screws on the jaws? I took apart my Prentiss vise mangling a stuck screw and couldn't find suitable replacements at Ace Hardware. Thanks.

Looks like a solid vise. Ask for the jaw width and weight. When I was scanning LA craigslist, I saw a nice Yost vise for ~$50 a couple weeks ago. I like the $1/lb or less rule. Although, for something nice, I might throw more money at it.

I think they're all gone. You have to act quick. Not even sure I got one even though I have my invoice stating it. Won't believe it till it's here.

It was $98. I picked that up along with the double box end metric set for $82.50.

I was checking the CL ads and there was what appeared to be a Wilton bullet vise 5 minutes from me for $10. The ad title was Large Vise. Here's the pictures of the craigslist ad. I called and asked him to read off the side and he said Wilton, so I was there within 15 mins. It was about 730pm...

The big vise had too much damage to the top and the jaws needed to be replaced. The cross hatching was about all gone. The orange one was almost new by comparison. It'll look much better after a small restoration.

I missed a nice vise at an estate sale this Saturday, but they had this ginormous Prentiss for $100. The vise and stand must have weighed 150 plus. Here's a picture: I passed because it was just too big and there was some damage near the top that would bug me too much. Someone scooped it up 10...

Thanks. Good deal, but took almost an hour over phone ordering the damn torque wrench. Now I've got the 1/4 and 3/8 clicker PI torque wrenches and this 1/2 PI split beam torque wrench. Probably be after Turkey day before I see it though.
