    Pro's & Con's of Glycol

I am using a Takagi HWH. It is a condensing unit, but I am pretty sure I remember reading that Glycol was ok. Either way, I don't think I have another option where I live.

    Pro's & Con's of Glycol

I was leaning towards 30% based on the charts I have seen online, but I guess that depends on what you use obviously. I have seen Cryo-Tek online. sseddon641- Is there another brand that you would recommend that I would be able to buy locally?

When you say it like that. What % glycol would you use for my area?

picts of your in-floor heat set ups.

Just finished my closed loop system. Just need to pressure test it before I fill everything. I am really new to this so if I missed anything feel free to criticize. Is there a way to get air into the system for testing via the hose bib? I would rather test for leaks with air first. The setup I...

    Pro's & Con's of Glycol

I just finished installing my radiant heat system in my woodshop and I am trying to decide whether or not to use glycol\anti-freeze. I live in SE Michigan, so the temps do drop down in the teens for a while. If I was ever to loose power, I am pretty sure I would have a mess on my hands. As far...

    70R garage build

Joe, Thanks for taking the time to post all of this detail. Much appreciated! A couple of questions for you: Why did you add extra temp gauges when they are built in to the manifolds? I see an extra wire going from your relay to the HWH. Are you using the relay to power the HWH? Thanks again...

    I think I screwed up

Can't seem to get a hold of the person from consumers that is going to do the switch so I am not sure on the price yet. My brother told me a friend down the street from him got a larger meter and they are charging him more per CF. We will see. I will post back as soon as I know for sure. I...

70R, Looks like pretty much the same setup I was planning on doing. Do have a list or sketch of the setup you have there?

    I think I screwed up

Unfortunately I do need a bigger meter. I have a 250k now and need a 400k. So far consumers energy has been great to work with, we will see. I was told I will probably have to pay more per cf even if I do not use any more, just because of the larger meter. Makes absolutely no sense, but I don't...

    I think I screwed up

I agree 100%, but I cannot find a quality condensing HWH that is small enough for my needs. Everyone says the Takagi units are great, but 120k is the smallest they make, at least that I have seen. If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears.

    I think I screwed up

As luck would have it I found a supply house two miles from my house that had everything I needed including a tracer wire for under $250. They were great to work with as well. For those in my area: Hartsig Supply Co Inc   Pipe Supplier Address: 3885 Auburn Rd, Auburn Hills, MI 48326

    Spray Foam

I just finished my 30x40 here in SE Michigan and I was quoted $2.50 sq\ft for 3" of closed cell and $3.50 sq\ft for 4". About $7500 total for 3" in the walls and 4" in the ceiling

From what other people are saying the gas company will not accommodate this, no? Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying.

    I think I screwed up

I tend to agree with you for the most part, but the smallest standard hwh I see is the jr and even that one is 140k BTU. It is $500-600 online and the condensing is only $750. Just made sense to me to spend the little extra and it only required 120k btu. Which model are you referring to that...

    I think I screwed up

I was planning on putting together a small outdoor kitchen next year so I am going to use the line, or at least part of it, for the grill. I hadn't thought about water, but that is a good idea. Not sure if CSST would work for that tho, would it?

    I think I screwed up

I haven't ordered anything yet so I will definitely ask him about it. From what I saw on the Takagi website, the 120,000 unit was the smallest condensing hwh they have that was approved for use in a radiant floor system. I used an online calculator and it said I needed 15,000 BTU's\Hr. Not sure...

    I think I screwed up

CNG First, thank you for all of your help, much appreciated. I cannot run right from the meter as I would need to tear up a portion of the driveway and to run around the other side of the house would be a 400'+ run. I talked with a friend of a friend tonight and he walked me through what I...
