Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

Thank you. What you see in the last pic is it. I will need to step the walls because of the higher grade in the back. So we dug around the inside perimeter of the poured footing yesterday down to about 12", not fun at all. Especially since all of the topsoil had been stripped off and it was...

Here are a couple of quick photos of the block. Going to dig down along the foundation walls for foam today and the foam should be here later today.

Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

Hmmm, will have to think this one over. I don't mind doing that part, but connecting to the house is where all the work is at. Not sure it is worth that for a sink. It would eventually have to be dug under the 42" footing and then sloped from there to my main about 150-60' away. If I would have...

Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

Wouldn't I need to run the drain pipe all the way back to my main in the basement? It would be over 100' run and the main is in the front of the house. Also, wouldn't the water supply need to be trenched under the footings in order to avoid the frost. I wanted to have a sink out there...

They are sanitary T's so they have a small sweep in them. I am sure the Wye's would have been a little better, but I only run one machine at a time. I am gooing to use Wye's as soon as I come up on the two side walls.

I am hoping I don't regret not putting water in there, but my mud room is not too far from the new shop. The problem I am having is the step from the footing to the inside of the block. There is anywhere from 2-4" difference. I think what I am going to do is dig down on the inside of the...

Mad rush this am to get the 6" PVC in before the sand was delivered. $#@! that stuff is expensive. Almost $400 for what you see in the pics. Nuts. Maybe I should have bought the Oneida stuff.:lol_hitti Block tomorrow and the roughers will be here on the 25th of this month. I am going to help...

Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

I got the feeling they make a lot more off of the venting than they do the actual dust collector. No, I don't plan on ever doing much in there except WW and I have never needed a drain in my previous garage shops. 2" rigid foam. I know you are supposed to go down along the footings 24", but...

Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

I think the center of the shop is the only place for a TS myself. It is the workhorse of my shop at least. I am planning for storage behind the knee wall. I think I am going to build racks for all of my left over materials from jobs. Did I say 3"? My bad, I meant 3' I called Oneida and they...

Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

Here are a few pics from today. I was lucky enough that a friend had a small dump truck to move the dirt across the street as the foundation guys did not have one available. They said they removed 45-50 yards of dirt. Someone is building a house across the street and they needed dirt so it was...

He did not surprisingly enough. My original plan was to have an excavator come in and level everything first and then have the footings done, but he was booked up until the end of the month. The footings contractor said he would remove it all with his back hoe today before he lays his block. I...

Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

I have attached a general layout, but I am planning on making the stairs 42" wide. The problem I have with the city is that they do not allow stairs on detached garages, so now I have to wait until after final inspection to put it in. PIA, but it is what it is. The 10' wide door will face the...

Smuth's 30x40 Woodshop finally under way

I have been on the forum for a couple years now and could not have done this without all the people that contribute so much of their time, so thank you! A little background I wanted to live in the country, but I had to compromise with the wife so I have a 1 acre lot in a town with pretty strict...

picts of your in-floor heat set ups.

So just to be clear, not all condensing boilers have the pump and expansion tank built in, but the Bosch models do?

Thanks BlueBomber. Where is the best place to put the hose bib for filling and draining?

picts of your in-floor heat set ups.

My sister-in-law works for Bosch so I get a discount that is why I was looking into them. I read through the specs and did not see that it has a pump built in. Do all condensing boilers have pumps built in? This is a link to the one I was thinking about. http://tinyurl.com/omokkvh I would...

picts of your in-floor heat set ups.

I posted this on a new thread in the heating and AC section and did not receive any replies. I was hoping I would have better luck here. I am in the initial planning steps of building a new 30x40 woodshop and after reading threads on here for months I have decided to go with radiant heat. I...

Installing Pex for radiant into concrete

I think the idea with the wire mesh is the concrete contractor pulls it up to the middle of the slab as he is pouring. I worry about the relief cuts after they pour the slab tho. What Badger says makes the most sense to me. That and I don' have to worry about them cutting one of my lines. To...

    Radiant Floor Heat Design Help

I am in the initial planning steps of building a new 30x40 woodshop and after reading threads on here for months I have decided to go with radiant heat. I knew absolutely nothing about the setup for radiant heat so I have to thank all of the people on here who contribute so much of their time...
