Ratcheting Wrench vs Ratchet - Which One Should I Get?

The nano sockets rock, so you should hook yourself up with that setup. Get a normal length swivel head like: https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/sockets-ratchets/ratchets/38-in-drive-flex-head-ratchet-70150.html And then that reach might do something different than the long Astro one.

What would you purchase from Harbor Freight with 25% off?

HF will send you the 25% off anything coupon if you haven't bought anything from them for 8 months or something like that. At least that's what a cashier told me last time I used mine, and it was true I hadn't made a purchase in a while. I got their latest large Bauer shop vac with the...

Battery Rotary Tools - Dremel vs 12v Milwaukee vs ?

I have the M12 brushed rotary tool and it's fine for light duty stuff, but bogs down when you use it like a die grinder (the way we all use them, let's be honest). Not as much torque as my old corded B&D RTX, otherwise no issues with the collet or anything like that. Now that there's a...

Striking Wrench for Cars / Light Trucks? Maybe for Axle Nuts?

I assumed striking wrenches were for industrial applications, perhaps outdoors where electricity and compressed air aren't readily available. The m18 high torque will take them axle nuts off no problem, seems like the least effort and safest way to approach the task.

Your Top 3 Favorite Tools of All Time

If we're talking just generally I need to fix something, I don't know what, and I get 3 things, these are my always available go-tos: 1. Popular Mechanics 6-in-1 screwdriver I got it as an inexpensive gift when I was a teenager, and it rode in the glovebox of my first car for years. Nice rubber...

Anyone else NOT like ratcheting screwdrivers?

I have this stubby Armstrong: https://www.cripedistributing.com/products/armstrong-66-582-ratcheting-screwdriver-handle-2-3-16-long-1-4-female-hex-usa?_pos=2&_sid=d30f6afaa&_ss=r And I like it because I'm typically in a limited access area where releasing my grip might be a problem. I...

    Going backwards with tool purchases

Some cheap stuff is actually good these days. When I don't know how much I'm going to need a new thing, I've been giving the Harbor Freight version a go and I see how it does unless a particular brand strikes my fancy. Sometimes it's totally alright forever (pullers, limited use specialty...

    MIG Pliers

I also have the Channellock 360 welding pliers because I wanted something made in USA but I reckon any of them will do fine.

Junkyard Tool Bag: 6 or 12 pt wrench?

Y'all are seriously bringing Snap-on to the yard? I use the yard as the discount table sloppy seconds tool punishment thunderdome. The part's coming off and/or that tool is getting mangled. Any tool that dies gets replaced by the cheapest weird thing from Cripe Distributing and the cycle of...

Junkyard Tool Bag: 6 or 12 pt wrench?

12pt for the yard, access is critical and honestly if you encounter a situation where the 6pt would have made a difference, that piece was a bad candidate for picking.

Vintage Craftsman or Vintage Proto Professional Combination wrenches?

My vote is also finish out both sets because they're both good and more options is more betterer.

Which Drill Press is better bargin?

If you're drilling holes in metal, you'll want more than one option under 500rpm. If it goes that slow and spins true, it'll work.

Anyone went from Red to Yellow and regretted it?

My high torque can shear suspension bolts in 8 ugga duggas, I'm not sure exactly what "falling behind" looks like but I wouldn't call it that.

I have to say, One up for NAPA today.

There's only one NAPA left near me and I call them Never Another Part Acquired. I've had the hardest time trying to convince the salespeople to sell me the parts they allegedly carry. I've always thought NAPA Gold parts were pretty good, too, as far as bottom of the barrel oem junk parts for...

    Impact wrench decision

No one cordless impact wrench is best for everything. The compact unit that fits in tight spaces probably won't bust apart your rusty suspension bolts, and the full size unit that will do said rusty bolts easily is heavy in the hand and bonks into everything all the time. If you want just one...

Question re battery capacity and power. Milwaukee M18

Yes, you need the big batteries for the heavy draw tools, although the 5.0ah will do it all for the most part.

    My New Found Love; Dremel

They are great for delicate detail work, and reaching tight areas as mentioned. Also for cutting plastic or small parts. My most common use is the tiny wire wheels for cleaning up gunky bolts in a hurry. They don't last long so I buy them in bags of 20 now.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Yep, recently flushed my heater core and I could have used them. Instead I made a cap out of extra hose and needle nose vicegrips but I saw those for $10 and decided I could justify it.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Another haul from Cripe arrived today: My junkyard toolset let me down with no sockets bigger than 13mm / 1/2", so I needed a larger set. But Harbor Freight wants TEN DOLLARS per set, I got these Danaher China Allen sets for $4 each. Nothing special but they're going to live in a damp bag in...

Mini pruning chainsaws, are they safe?

I did some pretty serious pruning around the property this year with my hackzall and AX blade and it did great. I think I'd prefer using that combo to a small chainsaw simply because there's less moving parts and no maintenance.
