    Garages at Night Thread

Afster - You probably don't remember giving me a ride in Truble, back in 2004 when I was visiting my friend Lloyd "Magoo" Wilson. Here's a picture - I had a blast as you went out beyond the car park and started spinning donuts in the grass. Cheers, Mike

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

Great story and history, Thomas. Thanks for sharing. Makes me remember my days in the School of Forestry and touring saw mills large and small. And starting that Cat, I worked on a farm that had a crawling one of those and remember that starting process - the way that diesel would chug to life...

That second striping panel looks like you might have had a little too much caffeine in your system.....but I really like it!!

Those rotating plugs, I think, are so you can have that receptacle behind some solid piece of furniture and the plug and wire is next to the wall rather than sticking out straight and creating clearance issues. Some versions I've seen are also surge protectors for computer installations.

    Garage Upgrade in 2 Phases

The expoxy floor is now over 8 years old and holding up very well. The only things that have marred it has been hot metal from plasma-cut pieces falling on it. I added the clear coat surface from the U-Coatit system. This is my first epoxy floor and I'll never be without one again. The only...

    Garage Upgrade in 2 Phases

The ceiling material was lightweight and easy to work with and since I was working alone, I had no problem doing it all by my self. I thought about sheetrock, but this was already white and shiny - didn't have to paint it. Before the ceiling, the rafters seemed to **** up the light and now it's...

Lookin' good, Jack. I really like the inset of the bench top for the chair and how the faceplate looks with the airline poking out.

    Garage Upgrade in 2 Phases

The Charger is undergoing a major upgrade now itself. Engine and ****** rebuild, sub-frame connectors, 4-wheel disc brakes, custom interior and new paint job. It'll still be black with the stripes on the tail, just better all the way around.

Yeah, I'm glad I didn't have a fire before I got it done right.

    Garage Upgrade in 2 Phases

I'm very happy with the cabinets. They were easy to build, good strength steel, and excellent flexibility in slots for attaching to the wall. Separately, I bought a roll 3/16" thick neoprene and cut it size for each of the drawers to provide non-slip surfaces for the tools. I'd recommend them. Mike

    Garage Upgrade in 2 Phases

So as a further update, the work room looked like this after Phase 1 of the upgrade. But it wasn't particularly functional, so I've since added a work bench and pegboards for tools etc. I duplicated a number of hand tools to eliminate the need to walk back and forth from the big room when I...

    Garage Upgrade in 2 Phases

Phase 2 started when I decided I wanted to put in a ceiling with insulation above it. The way the shop was, even though the walls were insulated, it could get pretty hot in the summer and cold in the winter. To put in the ceiling, though, there were other issues that needed to be addressed. I...

    Garage Upgrade in 2 Phases

I’ve been on GJ for a couple of years now and it’s about time I share changes I’ve made to my shop as a result of the inspiration I’ve gotten from seeing all the great places on this forum. My thread title comes from having made the Phase 1 upgrades when I first bought the house and shop and...

Cooper Heavy Industries: One guy's garage

It's been mentioned a couple of times about changing the way the garage doors open. I had the same problem and did what was mentioned here - a high lift system. My shop is 12' to the rafters so I extended the vertical tracks upwards to where the doors, when open were just under the rafters. I...

    The Breeze Place

'32 roadster is running fine, the '30 Roadster Pickup has some brake woes I'm working on, and the '68 Charger is undergoing a major refurb. - new paint, rebuilt motor, rebuilt ******, 4-wheel disc brakes, and custom interior. I'm hoping to see that one back on the road by the end of February.
