Once I had the moveable jaw out it took a little figuring to get the main screw out. There was a collar with set screw. Once the set screw was out I stuck a punch in the set screw hole and just spun the main screw. Unfortunately I didn't get a good shot of the disassembly at this point. Started...

So after sitting on this since last year I decided I needed to get this baby back in tip top shape and put her to use. First step disassembly. Note the center bolt is still in the swivel base. It was stuck good and it wasnt till reassembly that I realized it was supposed to come out.

Just about a year ago I aquired a bunch of tools that had been submerged by the tidal surge of Hurricane Sandy. This Craftsman vise was in good shape but was a little rusty and crusty, nothing a little elbow grease and some paint couldnt take care of. The moveable jaw is stamped 6 55 I assume...

Just measured the jaws they are 4 1/2 inches. Opens 8 plus inches and it is damn heavy!!! Haven't weighed it but I would guess near 100lbs? Just waiting on my order from McMaster for the check ball oiler that needed to be replaced then she is done. Works nice and smooth!!!

Here's my 1955 Craftman Machinist Vise. She was a hurricane Sandy survivor. It was 4 feet under water. Took a little cleaning but he is ready to be put back to work. Here is a before and after pic. I'll be doing a resto thread on it soon.

Sounds like an Atlas/Craftsman 12" lathe. Are you sure the part number isn't 101.07403? Some info in Vintagemachinery.org http://www.vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=51&tab=4

I believe that is the head bolt wrench for Model A/B and Flathead motors.
