Zoom, I spoke too soon too.---I went back and checked the price of an 800s, and they are $3870.00 plus shipping.---And that's not the kind with the jaw bolts through the towers, which IMO is the most desirable of the two.---And again, that's just the vise.
Shift, you old vulture you.---If I didn't already know you were just a kidding and full of mud, I'd say shame on you.---But free shipping would be sweet. :lol2:
Mighty nice setup Zoom.---If I didn't have a big user on a stand already, I'd make the trip.---Even though it's pretty darn far for me, that's a real buy.---I have a 800s just like yours, never used, NOS, and they are $3700.00 retail, just the vise.
Pretty work, KMS.---You make it look so easy.---For my part, if I can't fix something with a file, (round or flat), a drill. and a tap and die set, game over. :headshake
Dbovair, at $80.00, you did fine.--The Prentiss looks to be in good condition.--Coachmaker's always fetch a higher premium than, say a chipper, or machinist of equal size, and especially if it has a swivel jaw.
Yea, they make fun and rag on a fellow about his ridiculous addiction and purchases until they see how much one can make on the resale.---Then they say, hummm. ;)
KMS, I love those RED SEALS.---I bought an A. S. #25 from Autopts several years ago but it's a plain #25.---It's a nice one but I sure wished it was a RED SEAL 25.
RikkiT, that is a real score.---All you lack is making you some pipe jaws for it.---The Morgan combos are fashioned after the Charles Parker design.---It's just amazing what people will toss.
The jaws are replaceable, Four.cycle, but they are very difficult to machine.---Give KM Scott a PM and he will tell you about making C. Parker jaws.---He machined them for several years until retiring from the work.---It seems that no 2 C. Parker vises of the same model have the same jaw...
