One tool you have likely never used

I have a Mayhew Shake n Break. Same theory, but you have to put a wrench on it. I think I like this style with the lever built in better.

Dumbest thing you've ever done in your garage...

Had a forklift battery and a propane tank loaded in the back of my Tahoe. Took a turn, the propane got loose and rolled over and touched the contacts on the battery. Melted the posts of the battery right onto the propane tank. Could have killed me...

    Astro Pneumatic Tool Company

While you were typing, I was shopping... So this set at tooltopia is probably not going to have the case pictured? https://www.tooltopia.com/astro-pneumatic-7897.aspx

    Astro Pneumatic Tool Company

Thanks for the good info. I'm sold. How do I make sure I get one with the new case and 2017 c frame?

    Astro Pneumatic Tool Company

Hi Chris, There are a bunch of Chinese 21 piece ball joint press kits all over eBay for $70. I've used a few before and had problems with the c frame bending and the cups mushrooming. When I look at your 7897 kit, it looks identical -- same exact case, same layout, same adapters and cups, etc...

    Safety Reminder

That's one of the first things the graybeards taught me when I started as a gopher on construction sites at age 16. If something heavy is falling, get out of the way and let it drop. Number two is don't run around working during lunch break ;-)

    Nutts Enclosed Trailer project

Nice job... a lot of people who like tools, big or small, also like toolboxes. You're building a massive toolbox. It's kind of a cozy feeling. I have an all aluminum enclosed 6x12 and I used the same floor kit as you. It's been a year and it holds up great. I used rubber base molding with the...

    BEFORE & AFTER....A Tool Polisher's Haven

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics during the process. It was a simple process though... just a cursory surface prep with sandpaper and wire wheel and then masking and spraying. The only dilemma was deciding between original Clark lime or Family Truckster green. I had a friend do the vinyl...

    Bendpak rbj-4500 Bridge Jack questions

Silly question, but do you have it installed in the lower rail? I have the sliding version with two adjustable width contact sliders. For about ten minutes when I installed it, I had it sliding on the actual decks, not the inner flange of the deck which is about 4" lower. Hope this makes sense.

    HF Braun Slim LED Worklight

I ordered two Braun lights in January and got the dreaded "backordered" email a few months ago. When I called, they said they'd be back in stock in July. Lo and behold, they showed up out of the blue yesterday. Real nice quality. I've been using the Astro ones (40SL and 40SL Max) and love them...

    BEFORE & AFTER....A Tool Polisher's Haven

OK, I tried a new image host. Apparently Imgur doesn't work here (at least for everyone else -- the images were viewable on my browser). I understand there are purists who say don't touch the patina but I'm never going to sell one anyway. Plus, after I play them a few times the patina starts to...

    BEFORE & AFTER....A Tool Polisher's Haven

Speaking of polishing... I have a box of old Ping putters that I've accumulated over the years for a few bucks each. I've been restoring them for myself and as gifts for friends. I start with an old putter and sand the bag chatter off them by hand, then they go in the bead blaster. After 20...

Digital Torque Wrench Adapter vs Torque Wrench

I have two smaller torque wrenches -- one 1/4" inch-pound for the low torques, one 3/8" foot-pound for the 20-100 range, and then the ACDelco adapter for 1/2" stuff. The ACDelco is cumbersome but you're not usually using it on tight stuff in the engine bay; more like lug nuts and suspension...

Any cheap LED work lights worth buying?

If you don't mind a cord, buy the HDX clamp light and put a 75 watt equivalent LED bulb in it. I have three of these in my auto shop and beat the **** out of them. They stock them at every HD I've ever checked. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-75-Watt-PVC-Clamp-Lamp-1102/205504032

Longtime lurker. Thought I'd post a few pics of my 6000 sq ft shop. There is a high level of shenanigans that go on here. Cheers!
