Grind a bad floor to level it?

Has anyone used a cement grinder to level an uneven concrete floor? Like I don’t already have enough projects on the list…I’m thinking of renting something to try and improve the floor in my pole barn workshop. The floor is already in bad shape, so I doubt I can make it any worse. The pole...

Harbor Freight Central Machinery Cabinet Lens Protectors

I use these and they seem to work ok, but when installing them, I have to use packing tape around the edges as the adhesive on the sheets is lousy. https://www.amazon.com/Abrasive-Blasting-Cabinet-Lens-Cover/dp/B0CXLNM65L?tag=atomicindus08-20 Whereas it doesn't address the window covers, but...

    Just ordered a track saw.

Obviously, but they need to be attached correctly first. There's a small rib extruded in the underside of track that the rubber strip is supposed to align with. On the 3 lengths of track in my kit, these strips we installed poorly.

    Just ordered a track saw.

The track saw was a good investment. There were a few quality control findings (no surprise . . . made in China) but nothing that was a game stopper. I used it to cut full-length strips from, 3/8" and 3/4" plywood. The saw slowed down a bit on the 3/4, but still completed the cuts...

    Just ordered a track saw.

Here's a little irony... I was sharing my circular saw tale of woe to the girls at home and my daughter pointed out that the t-shirt that got cut up (instead of me getting mauled), was a freebie from a Red Cross blood donation.

    Just ordered a track saw.

I just ordered a track saw. Why might make your hair stand on end… I’m in the midst of a project for Mrs. and Daughter Imagineer…building a larger chicken coop. The outer surfaces of the coop are 5/8” thick T-111 plywood. Whereas I’m physically capable of lifting one of these sheets, supporting...

Anyone Install a Fan in Their Garage?

Not in a garage, but I have an 18" version of this in our greenhouse... https://www.amazon.com/Variable-Weatherproof-Industrial-Greenhouse-Workshop/dp/B01I9BZ5GK/?tag=atomicindus08-20 It's been running on low speed, non-stop for almost 3 years now.

Questions about plumbing air lines for painting

FWIW, anytime I'm putting a can of paint away for an expected long time, I simply store the can upside-down to ensure any microscopic air leaks in the lid are sealed. In 2002, I painted an '89 F150 and last summer, used the left over gray metallic single stage on a motorcycle project...

Questions about plumbing air lines for painting

I'd skip the HF Filter/Regulator. I had one and it didn't do anything. After taking out of the air circuit, I cut it open and found nothing inside.

It took about 3 hours to strip this much area.

    Exterior painting question

Just wanted to add that this thing is great. It's at least 5x faster than manual scraping of the old paint and does a much more thorough job. FWIW, I keep it set to the minimum depth of cut. I will say however, the ergonomics are awful. Using the fixed and adjustable handles, it's...

What Tools have you Broke? What Caused them to Break?

The only one worth mention was a 1/2" Craftsman breaker bar. The socket attachment let go while trying to loosen a Subaru drive axle nut (using a 4' pipe extension).

    Self leveling mortar?

This is probably the direction I'll go, and add an extra mesh panel. Still, the problem will be time. There's no way to back a cement truck to the the site, so I'll be pulling this off using a portable mixer and bags of concrete. As it's configured now, it's 11' x 12', which will...

    Paint

For non automotive or motorcycle paint projects, I've had a lot of success HVLP spraying Majic brand farm implement paints. https://www.majicpaints.com/farm/tti/ I use their reducer and hardener too, and pour it through a paint strainer. Whereas it takes a bit longer to dry than...

    Self leveling mortar?

That would skirt the issue of the permit, but being inside a frame with access though a man-door, I doubt I'd be able to screed it level without making a mess of it. Besides, Mrs. Imagineer and I are 5 years or so from retirement and if we end up moving, the greenhouse will come with. I'm...

    Self leveling mortar?

    Self leveling mortar?

Regular concrete . . . I'm hoping to not have to make level forms to pour into. The greenhouse sits on 2x12s on edge with the tops of the pavers about 7" down from the top of the 2x12s. There won't be much opportunity to screed. The actual finished height of the floor is arbitrary...

    Self leveling mortar?

Question for those with concrete floor experience… I want to improve the floor in Mrs. Imagineer’s greenhouse. Currently, the floor is 4”x8”x2” thick brick pavers, dry-set on a ~1” bed of ‘sand’. Actually, I was too cheap to purchase masonry sand and used spent waterjet garnet instead. (Where I...
