    40 X 60 Northwest Garage Build

^Thanks Rudi. I don't get a lot of snow. Average one or two snow storms each year with 4-6" of snow. Winters are cold and wet and working on a cold concrete floor really saps your energy. I chose in floor heating because operating cost is very low, it's more comfortable to work on, and there...

^The hatch wasn't mine but had a b16 in it - it was stripped and built for auto-x. Fun car. Rotrex was in the S2000 but I'm currently swapping it out for a J32 V6. I used to work in Danbury CT.

Still no stairs. Using a ladder for now but stairs are on the "TO DO" list.

Thanks. No major shop updates - everything is working as planned. Lots of projects in the shop (mostly automotive) and a few shop finish details still on the list to complete but low priority.

^Yes, I often bump the office area temperature up to 70 degrees in the winter and run the large shop space around 65. Heat pump will easily keep everything at 70 if desired. The radiant floor takes a while to heat the building so it's great for maintaining a temperature but if you want to...

Another build question. Is the fork steerer welded directly to the fork blades or is it pressed or brazed into the "crown"?

Absolutely beautiful work! How do access the weld joint at the seat stay brace near the top tube junction on that 29+/Fat? Looks like an impossible area to reach. Also, I rode a fat tire MTB a little bit the other day and it shocked me how light and nimble it felt. I expected the wheel/tire...

Very happy with the floor. I clean and reapply a ZEP floor polish about once a year in the high traffic areas (mostly under the lifts). This is a quick process with a mop. So far, durability has been great compared to other floors I've seen with epoxy or painted on seal coatings. I think a...

^Yes, I was originally planning to use a rolling warehouse style ladder but I'm now planning to build a staircase. The top half will be fixed and the bottom half will be hinged so it can be folded up and out of the way if I need to access the equipment behind it. I'm still trying to decide...

^ A local heating company (Barron) did the design and install. I helped dig the trenches for the ground loops and I finished some of the copper plumbing work but they did everything else. I was pretty impressed with their quality of work. There are also local and federal tax rebates for this...

The ground lines are 2-2.5" in diameter. They are black thermoplastic but I'm not sure of the exact material. Joints were done using a heat/melt process. I love the geothermal. I typically leave it at 60 degrees which is comfortable for me to work in. Energy bills average $35/month or so.

Power reels are Grizzly 20 Amp. Relatively happy with them so far. The only negative is that they sometimes bind up when retracting so you have to manually feed them back and forth so the cable lays down in an organized fashion which can be challenging when the reel is hinged.

Some minor updates: Installed some power reel drops near the lifts and work benches. Also installed some air hose reels. I purchased a Zilla reel after feeling how nice and flexible the Flexzilla hose is. The reel is pretty cheap in construction and doesn't really work when mounted to a...

Mostly Time Trial racing lately and a lot of auto-x in the past. The M3 isn't mine but it's a daily driver/BSP auto-x car. I won the 2013 NASA NW TT2 championship in the S2000. I put some info about the events here: http://sectoronedesign.wordpress.com/

The heat pump is Bosch. I'm not sure if Bosch bought FHP or if FHP builds the units for Bosch but the labeling on the inside is FHP (Florida Heat Pump). FHP has been around for a while and has a good reputation based on my research.
