    ICON 3/8 Semi-deep chrome

Reading back on this thread I feel somewhat responsible for the topic derailment and a bit of trolling which is not my usual style. Though passionate for the North American manufacturing cause there were some generalizations I’d like to correct. @M6erfan you convinced me to do some research...

    ICON 3/8 Semi-deep chrome

The R&D and Engineering put into great products costs money. When we accept the copies we don’t reward the originator and discourage innovation. It’s a slippery slope. There are many cases of blatant copies and we would all be better served to be more mindful in supporting innovation and industry.

Dr. Demings is American… That said there’s nothing wrong with sharing ideas and building on them (six sigma) which wasn’t the point of my post.

    ICON 3/8 Semi-deep chrome

Admittedly should be more specific to China copying (everyone else’s) designs: https://amp.www.complex.com/sports/2013/10/chinese-car-company-knockoffs And point taken about the recent few years of North American car quality. I mostly drive and work on trucks from the big 3 (oil patch...

    ICON 3/8 Semi-deep chrome

I won’t deny they make great cars. And the (now) investment in facilities in North America and some R&D helps. But the source of the data back in 70s/80s was directly lifted from the big 3. The taking of hard won designs and Engineering is what gets my goat. And especially in this case the...

    Show your new tool arrivals

16 and 32 oz DBBPs in green to match the rest in my drawer. And 2 broken SHLX80A ratchets (one with bent fork but good head and other with straight fork and assumed damaged head missing. Bought a new wrist pin and a fresh rebuild kit and bam a $60 total cost. Already have one of these but wanted...

    First Icon Tool Purchase

Valve lapping compound in the joint, spray some wd-40 and work em back and forth. Will loosen them right up. That said, for longevity of the joint, how long the teeth will last depends a lot on the metal composition and hardening process. I’m shamelessly a snap on nut and in my opinion the best...

    Snap-On Sockets

Because they don’t make sockets lol. If you compare the pliers snappy vs Knipex and drivers Snap on vs Vessel the pricing is comparable here in canada (snap on about 15% higher)

    Snap-On Sockets

I’ve never regretted what I paid when I bought the best, but often when upgrading tools wish I had just ponied up in the first place. “Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten”. Snap on gets a lot of flack, but people don’t bat an eye paying Knipex, Vessel Nepros pricing. I...

Torque Test Channel Open End Wrench Testing Part 2

Gearwrench is very overpriced for the junk they are shilling these days. Love my FD+ wrenches!

Where does everyone buy their screwdrivers online in Canada?

Yup great point. I couldn’t go back to normal pliers now that I have Knipex and Snap on. Though again for budget purposes the trusty blue Channel lock is pretty solid.

Where does everyone buy their screwdrivers online in Canada?

Amazon for my Vessels, KMS for Wera (best value by far), and Snap on truck for my instincts lol. Those Canadain tire sets are sliding down the hill in quality. I’d take a deep breath, pray and push with all your might sticking those Phillips into a screw head lol. For quality and value having...

Any Canadian places online that sell proto reasonably?

Acklands for sure is the best way. I order personal stuff using my company name (they look up our acct #) and just pay with credit card. Even if you don’t work for them anymore, could just say you do? Not sure what part of Canada you’re in, but western Canada - KMS tools sells Proto, but pretty...

    Garage Heating in Calgary, Canada

My garage/workshop is a 24’x24’ in Calgary and Calcana radiant tube works great. It heats the slab itself which makes crawling on the floor under a car a lot nicer, plus when the door opens and shuts (we park in garage most days) the floor retains a lot of heat vs a forced air setup Very rarely...

    Long ratcheting wrenches

I see you’re from Wisconsin, but if you ever travel north of the border, Canadian Tire has extra long one end flex (no reverse), one end standard 12 pt box end. They go on sale 50% off regularly so $150 CAD...

Pliers That I Find Useful and Some I Don't. Tell Me Your Preferences
