    Wellcome to Siberia

Hi Stas I have not posted on your thread before but I would like to thank you for educating us so well about your region. As to Andy's line that you don't understand, an understatement means that you have not given your sentence enough emphasis, enough power. Lenin was one of THE most prominent...

In Europe a retarder is what they call an endurance brake i.e. it slows you down and can do that for a long time without burning out(like going down a mountain) but it is not powerful enough to actually stop the vehicle. It is normally built into the driveline between the propshaft and the diff...

I would love to see that with 2 trailers, but I suppose like anything else you get used to it.

Are the multis rigged so that you can tip all the trailers while still connected as a train or does the driver have to do a lot of trailer swapping to do them one-by-one? Whichever way looks to have a fair bit of work involved.

Trying to unhoard the hoarder's hoard with the help of a horde.

If some of the stuff is an unknown, what value has it? If you don't know what it is you won't ever use it, so toss it. Even if ,in the future you might need it you won't remember that you ever had it so you won't worry about buying another. I'm not being a hard-*** because I have the same...

My shop equipment restoration and fabrication

What he said. I know nothing about machining so have nothing useful to say, but I do recognize good workmanship and it is always a pleasure to see what you have done. Please don't feel you are being ignored.

    ZMotorsports Shop Projects 2.0

Certainly does make sense but just to go the last bit - is it to improve the handling by the extra stiffness, or to make the axle last longer, or a bit of both?

is it a WRENCH or a SPANNER

    In Lincs/Notts/Yorks it's often called a "C" spanner - in fact I was about 45 before I heard a different name.

Please educate me because I know nothing of Jeeps or off-roading. What is the reason for fitting a different axle casing to the front? I can understand the changes to the suspension for greater wheel travel and articulation but changing one solid housing for another has me beat. BTW thanks for...

I don't often post on your thread, but I had to pass on my best wishes. I hope your recovery doesn't take long. I'm a lorry driver too so I feel for your guy - not a pleasant way to go.

    Oil undercoating

I have no personal knowledge, but I was told that using old engine oil is not a good idea because of the acids that collect in the oil from combustion blow-by. New oil of course has no such problem.

new garage build from the uk

No. Ocasionally we will "dry-line" with sheetrock(plasterboard in the UK) but that is normally only done on old uneven walls. In this case the blocks are the internal wall and they will be "plastered" with what I think is something similar to your Sheetrock "mud". That will then be covered with...

new garage build from the uk

Only just found this thread so I hope nobody minds if I answer a couple of old questions. The cavity is there because the bricks are porous so if rain beats on that wall for a long time any water that gets through simply runs down the cavity and seeps away underground rather than soaking the...

Jim I don't know why but your pictures are not showing at all on my PC. All I have on my screen is Saturday: Then a complete blank. However, on this pane that I have opened to quote your answer there is Photobucket code for 4 (?) pictures. If nobody else is having the same problem it must be my...
