    The Epoxy Floor Damage Thread

Hey Nathan, good to see you on here. I had a customer call me because of "peeling" of the garage coating about 1 year after installation. I don't know if he was being cute, but when I did the service call, the floor was obviously damaged by one of about 20 automotive products (which were...

    Allergic Reaction to Epoxy?

Hey, check it out...me and the installer did a monster 1000-plus square foot floor on wednesday--this time I wore a 3m breather--but no goggles. So far, I haven't had any reaction at all--and my exposure was much greater in terms of time "over the bucket" that I have ever had before. So maybe...

Removing Concrete paint to use epoxy

The acid will not penetrate areas where paint remains--it will have no effect. Pressure washing is not going to do a very good job of removing that paint, and you'll want to get that paint off of there to reveal fresh, scored concrete underneath. The best approach is physical grinding--if you...

    Allergic Reaction to Epoxy?

Hmmn...yes, as I suspected. My main installer has more years than me, and he said once this sort of reaction starts, it justs get worse. Any ideas on this: is it fumes contacting my eyes--or is it me inhaling the fumes and it getting in my blood (probably fumes contacting the eyes, but I wondered)

    Allergic Reaction to Epoxy?

Hey guys. As some of you know from my posts here, I do epoxy flooring. I am pretty much part time at this point, doing floors when I want to. I use (don't want to say brand) solvent-based epoxies in my installations. The stuff is certainly high-quality commercial stuff. Here's the thing: on the...

EpoxyGuard Flooring At Costco 100% Solids - My Project

It looks nice, for sure. The thing about using chips is that the chips "randomize" the appearance of the floor by disquising imperfections. This is a very nice solid color floor.

    Respirator for Epoxy or Etching?

Wash your face and hands after you finish coating, or just take a shower. I use high-end commercial epoxy and after I use it sometimes I get this really weird irritation and itching on my upper eyelids about 10 hours after--happens like clockwork every time. Definitely try to keep clean, and use...

    Well, $@#@!%$%#%@!!!!

Actually, I think that floor looks pretty fine. But, the roller marks might be more serious in person. Where did you end up with this? Did you put a coat of clear over it? When and if you use a clear coat, try thinning it a bit with acetone (assuming it's not water-based). You'll get greater...

    Epoxy Floor Installation Steps

Pardon me--YES, shotblasting is probably superior to grinding. But a shotblaster is a serious machine. We do pro installs, every one has been with a diamond grinder. Never had a problem, and I don't plan to!

    Previous owner left me.....

It's easy: 1. Grind off the old coating with a diamond grinder. You'll also prep the floor at the same time. 2. Finish it with high-grade, high-solids epoxy--use the best you can buy. It'll last a decade, at least.
