    Welding Question 5 x 7 Utility Trailer

Don't make me scrounge around for some 1/8" material and dust off my little Hobart Handler 140 to show that it will weld 1/8" material just fine. You want me to try to etch it or bend it just to satisfy you?

    Blacksmith Tongs

I've picked up a few from $5-15 recently. Depends on type, size and seller.

    Welding Question 5 x 7 Utility Trailer

Pretty much the advice I would give...welded for a living for 17+ years, manufacturing engineer for 6 years, trained welders, wrote procedure books, managed manufacturing facilities for large companies (1st ops, machine, fab, weld, blast, paint, assy, shipping, maint. etc) Been in metal...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thanks! I used to manage a factory with a full machine shop but we never did serrated surfaces like that. Maybe I can get these cleaned up some but they are ugly...nothing like they are supposed to be.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Hey guys, I tried searching but didn't find anything. I have a Colombian 506 that I'm working on. Where can I get new jaws? How do the jaws come out...it looks like there are three pins I have to knock out on each one but I could not get them to move at all. Thanks. **EDIT - I looked on...

    Show us your portable toolbox!

A couple of pics of my box when I got it. I have since repainted it grey. I bought it at a garage sale from a retired SeaBee. He said he used it on the boat for years. I do not have a current pic.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I only have two vises at the moment but I have my eye on one that will fit between these two. #1 - Craftsman that I bought at a yard sale 15-20 years ago. It is a good little vise. I may freshen it back up soon. #2 - Colombian # 506 that I bought for scrap ($0.04/ lb) recently. I am going to...

    Hammer time!

I don't have the quantity or quality that some of you have but I have a few. I am "restoring" a few of them as I get time.

How durable is Hammertone rattle can paint?

You guys must be using a different paint than I buy. :dunno: I've had really good luck with it personally. You have to put on quite a few LIGHT coats and let them almost dry completely, then put a little heavier final coat to build texture. How heavy each coat can be depends on your temperature...

    Share your Google Sketchup Projects!

I may have to give this another try. I couldn't get the free version to work worth a squat. I was proficient with AutoCAD years ago (can still do it but controls are different on newer versions) and I use Creo (formerly ProE) on a daily basis for work.

    Quincy compressor quit

I have this compressor behind my shop under a lean-to. The paint is peeling and flaking off everywhere...very poorly quality. Due to the weather my work trip this week was cancelled. Unfortunately I had already flown to Chicago before getting word. Anyway, when I returned home, I tightened the...

    Quincy compressor quit

Due to increased work and travel I have not had a chance to look into this yet. I am going to check the voltage and tighten the belt. The oil and filter were recently changed. I drained the tank, turned the pump pulley by hand and then started the compressor. It works fine until it builds...

    Quincy compressor quit

Does this look right to you? It is this compressor, bought about 9 months ago. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200350475_200350475 It has always been very noisy. It also takes a minute to start...kind of lugs along then goes. Well, today it made some noise and quit. The thermal...

    Hi...from Palatka Florida....

Welcome. I can't help you with the lifts but my brother possibly could. He's in Keystone. Anyway, this is the Intro section so you would probably get more help if you posted it in one of the other areas.
