    Help with Scroll Air Compressor

Just a note on that fan, a lot of those stamped aluminum blades are only rated for 1550rpm...which might be why the original one was starting to come apart too.

What's so bad about his wiring? Definitely seen worse

    Help with Scroll Air Compressor

Keep the updates coming, that's a neat/weird little unit you've got there

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

Yep my thoughts exactly. I'm going to keep bugging them about a controls upgrade but I doubt it will get anywhere. When I mentioned to the sales engineer that this thing could in theory have 5 different capacities he replied: "This unit unfortunately only has 2 compressors so you can only have...

    amp rating?

 Well I guess the 15 hour day yesterday took its toll on my brain. Had I just read the entire page last night I wouldn't have needed to ask you guys for help....all the info is right there in writing, even has that NEC article. thanks again

    amp rating?

Sorry, should have had more info in my post. Yes it's for a welder, Miller 220 to be specific. Thought it was weird that it specs a breaker for 120 but fuses for 240. I don't see why a 40amp breaker wouldn't work though. Foot note 2 just specs RK5 fuses. thanks for the help guys.

    amp rating?

Alright I'm confusing myself so hopefully someone can help me out. I know they're amperage ratings but what exactly does "1max(A)" and "1eff(A)" mean?

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

If only I had an extra $15K to buy a 1750  I think I can stretch my Fluke 289 out to log 24hrs if I drop my sample rate a little bit. Yesterday and today I played around with the pump speed and it definitely needs to be increased, I'll have to find the sweet spot next week when it gets...

    Nidec motors and weg motors

They're both good brands, I've had a WEG motor in service on an aftercooler for years running 24/7/365 with no issues. NIDEC owns US motors and I don't think they sell NIDEC branded motors that small so It's probably actually a US motors motor...I could be wrong though. See if you can get the...

    France’s New Tech ‘Repairability Index’

Especially since a lot of that equipment is so massive. I work in eastern Colorado where the size of a lot of the farms is mind boggling and the equipment is sized accordingly. It get's pretty expensive for those guys to take a tractor that's wider than a 2 lane highway to the dealership 2...

What is the correct voltage designation?

I grew up hearing my dad say 110/220 which I know isn't right but I still catch myself sometimes. I don't think it's a big deal though since we all know what someone means when they say 110/220. Speaking of "impossible" voltages At my last Job I got called in because a few different pieces of...

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

I hear ya, but a 3hp pump on 480 won't exactly dim the lights if you know what I mean haha :D. Most of our larger motor loads are soft start or on VFDs though. Fortunately for me I'm the only guy running and working on this plant so I usually don't have to worry about people clearing faults...

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

WTF is a lot of people's reaction hahaha. I'll keep bugging our Trane Contact, if push comes to shove I'll have to get our procurement people involved to lean on Trane "Creative" solutions a little harder. But at this point I've narrowed it down to the controller never actually staging...

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

Has anyone had any experience with the Trane UC600 controller and TD7 display? Does it seem normal that I can't change any setpoints at all? They programmed an "override" that allows me to change the water temp setpoint but that's it, and if I or someone else accidently press "release...

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

Technically this is a packaged unit, just not a very good one haha. The company I work for has been around in one way or another since the 1800s and have been working with Trane since forever, my guess is we get pretty good pricing on their equipment with whatever crazy contract we have with...

Correct, HX is remote; see the PID attached.

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

Read the responses above. If the old 25 ton unit ran for years with no problems I doubt this 20 ton unit that can stage and unload is oversized. Suspect that this is a combination of problems; pump speed is too high, compressors are not unloading which would either be a design or controls...

20 ton Chiller compressors cycling too often?

Yeah unfortunately for me a 20 ton CGAM is too big to fit in the area we needed it to so they came up with this garbage. My initial thought was that the pump speed is too high to get decent heat transfer in my heat exchanger. But now I'm wondering if this thing is actually staging the...
