    Let's talk fire safety

I hang out for at least an hour after any hot work as well. I'd like to get a flammable storage cabinet too for all my nasty stuff. Probably a good idea for an attached garage. Had a coworker loose his entire shop from a lightening strike, the heat got so intense anything in the shop that...

    School me on electric chainsaws

I might be wrong but I believe the tensioner on these is captive in just plastic and kind of gets wollowed out after a while.

    HVAC measurements

I totally get that they don't have to be exact to work for HVAC, It's not like these are filters that are going on a Turbine filter house or anything. There's got to be some history here though, These days It doesn't cost any more money to to make a filter that's actually 16"x25"x1" rather...

    What's your go to screwdrivers?

I like Wiha's small precision screwdrivers for terminal blocks, instrumentation and stuff like that. Klein cushion grip or Wera demo screwdrivers for every day use. Williams hard handles for greasy stuff. I also have a set of Westward screwdrivers I got years ago from tech school and they are...

    HVAC measurements

I know that, was just wondering what the history is behind using a nominal size.

Piston compressor sound vs. scroll compressor

Oh I didn't even notice these were flooded, I just assumed they were dry scrolls which is why I was questioning airend life....still though, time will tell I guess.

Piston compressor sound vs. scroll compressor

I've been intrigued by these things but I don't buy the 100,000 hour continuous use claim.... I'm curious to see if Eastwood will still be selling these in 5 years. Anyone know who manufactures them for Eastwood?

    milwaukee yard tools

I bought the M18 blower last year and I like it a lot, great for the roof, sidewalks and patio. Doesn't quite have enough balls to be super effective in the grass but I usually just end up using a rake for that since we get a ton of pine needles. I am using old XC5.0 batteries so that might be...

    Cutler hammer breaker experts?

I've heard this argued both ways, with valid points on both sides. I'm still going to re-check connections annually... too many variables to assume that it's good after being torqued once; how often is that torque wrench calibrated, did the they even use a torque wrench, did they get antiox...

    HVAC measurements

What's the story behind HVAC stuff using "nominal" sizes for filters and other stuff? I know some manufacturers list the actual size, but a lot of times it's just a rounded up number....what's the point? Is there some history behind this kind of like how a 2x4 isn't 2" x 4" anymore?

    Direct drive oilless compressor lifespan

Because OSHA doesn't give two shits about what you do in your garage or how loud it is ;) . They also don't care how loud anything is at work as long as you have a hearing preservation program and conduct regular sound studies. One of my sites is 115dB 24/7, OSHA is totally cool with it.

    Anyone used a PZ0 screwdriver?

I've come across them on small relay bases, but like mentioned above, they're almost always already chewed up by a Philips. Drives me nuts when I come across an Electrician or I&E guy that has no idea what Pozidriv is, especially since you see them constantly in my line of work....

    Compressor grinding after oil change?

Sounds like belt/belt guard noises to me too. and maybe some air whistling through the valves. If you're really concerned then sure pull the head and have a look and maybe drain the oil again and see if there's any glitter in it.

    Stihl & Husqvarna chainsaws

Just curious why you didn't like your MS250? I have the same saw and have problems starting it sometimes, seems like it floods almost immediately if it doesn't kick on the first or second pull. Once it's running though I think it's a great saw.

    NEMA 5-15R and 5-20R outlets

The drum heaters at the brewery I used to work at had 5-20s no idea why though...... not that anyone uses a drum heater in their kitchen :D

    Work bench top

I have 3/4" plywood with 1/8" mild steel bolted to the top with flat head allens. It's held up great for the last ten years getting the snot beat out of it, I was worried about rust at first, but it hasn't been an issue. I don't remember the exact cost but it was less than $50 for a 2'x5'...

I prefer dipped unless I have to use insulated for work, then they're all "comfort" grip like.

    Grease a new electric motor?

Other than one big 5008 frame motor that specified Mobilith SHC 100 I've yet to run across a Baldor or any other induction motor that specified anything other than a Polyurea grease like Chevron SRI or Mobil Polyrex EM so I'd put money on your motor taking Polyrex. Not sure where everyone else...
