Bought an old small compressor today.

As for why I took it apart- it is just getting a little hunker up, and I feel it deserves a little love. There is def a slime inside the crankcase that will get dissolved. Any idea how to approach the electric motor flap lube points? I am going to remove the motor and pull the end caps and...

Bought an old small compressor today.

The notch is cut all the way through the inner brass bushing in the housing to the crankshaft, so it may make contact there. Just like the tiny little paper clip on the bottom of the crankshaft I’m amazed that something like that would make any difference whatsoever. Sent from my iPhone...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

I haven’t been to a harbor freight in a couple years as the closest one to me in any direction is about 45 minutes. They just announced they are building one that is 10 minutes or less from me. I heard that they have changed their coupon policy and people aren’t as inclined to go there...

Bought an old small compressor today.

Here is the groove the ring sits in. You can see where the bolt comes through at the top of the groove on the left into what is now missing on the other side of the grooves but doesn’t appear to matter. In these other pictures you can see the hole where the bolt comes from the outside, and...

Bought an old small compressor today.

I just put the cyl head pic up for fun- not taking that apart. Headed back to the garage now and will take better pics of the insides. Funny - no gaskets or sealer on any of this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bought an old small compressor today.

Took the pump apart yesterday and have a question. There is a metal ring inside. Probably about 3 inch diameter or so. I can’t figure out what it’s purpose is. There is a slot cut into the output side plate, with a screw that threads into the plate and goes across the top of the slot...

Bought an old small compressor today.

Update- still have this, use it all the time. Never painted it. All I did was replace the inlet filter with one of these- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H43KPK6/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Now I really can't believe how quiet this is- absurdly quiet.

Anyone identify this big old drawer thingy?

Laughing at the title- my wife and I can't think of a name to describe it. Anyone have any idea what it is I bought this a few years ago at a cool old used tool store. It is extremely heavy and built like a tank. The drawers are on metal wheels, ball bearings, metal rails..but lift right...

    01 dimensioning device

The laser has zero to do with the measuring. It is only there to give you a visual indication of where to start and stop. The measuring is the roller wheel at the top as you move the pen. If you lift off the surface or hit a gap- error.

    01 dimensioning device

Agreed. And that is it's biggest flaw- I am a hands on guy, doing all sorts of projects. And my wife is an architect. I'll ask her for her opinion when she gets home, but for me, the fact that it needs to roll with sensor is pretty useless. They claim it is a replacement, much less the end...

    South Bend lathe w/ stand

Lathe is 9" from the late 1930's. The stand is somewhat newer I believe. The motor is a Dayton 1hp. I have a book I bought for it that goes into great detail about it. It is heavy, will take a couple strong guys to move, and probably best to put onto a low trailer. I bought it planning on...

$40 Off BelAire 216V 5 HP 60 Gallon Air Compressor

Never understood why a retailer posts in here anyway. That is not the intent of 'HOT DEAL'. This forum is for smokin deals, not $40 off a $1,000+ unit. Laughable. :lol_hitti A hot deal on compressors was when I was able to purchase TWO belt drive stand up compressors for less than $400 out...

Yamaha YS828 w/ no motor FS on eBay - Allentown Pennsylvania, Bid only $99 so far

This is close enough to me to purchase- but honestly I have 2 questions- #1- if it is super rare, why would I buy something I can't get parts for, or the parts are $$$ #2- If it is really that good- why wouldn't the owner just put another engine on it? I would think the engine is the most...

    Stahlwille 20/a great eBay buy.

Silly question- what applications are you guys using these for? I have wrenches, I have sockets.. never had a need for these that I am aware of?? Especially non ratcheting. I'm old enough that I used normal wrenches for decades.. but it is hard to go back.
