    Daikin minisplit question

Factory charge should be marked on the outdoor unit. The factory charge will cover it for X amount of line set, info on that should be in the install manual, any extra for longer line sets should be calculated with the info in the install manual.

What’s the longest extension you’ve ever used?

Around 4ft, had all the extensions I have joined up so I could reach a compressor service valve to torque the mounting bolts. Wasn't enough room inside the machine to swing the torque wrench.

    Reverse slot head screw

Would need a socket a bit like this Snapon shock absorber one but smaller and narrower. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Snap-On-Tools-3-8-Drive-1-4-Oval-Shock-Absorber-Specialty-Chrome-Socket-A137/392128514875?epid=1523314455&hash=item5b4cae4b3b:g:gnEAAOSwa5lbpWS~

    Reverse slot head screw

Had to strip a replacement pump motor yesterday to rotate the pump so the delivery pipe lined up with the one it was replacing. The motor end bells were held on with four long bolts about 4mm diameter, the problem in undoing them was the heads instead of having a female slot for a screwdriver...

    compressor oil change

Domestic air con doesn't need the oil changing. Its only huge commercial systems that have oil change intervals. Only time you'd want to change the oil is if the system had severe moisture etc contamination or you wanted to change from mineral oil to synthetic due to changing the refrigerant type.

    benefits of standard combo wrenches?

Do a lot of work on farms, previously have dropped my ratchet into a bucket of dairy chemicals and despite copious rinsing etc the internals were soon dissolved into rust. So standard wrenches are better for harsh environments in my experience. I have some ratcheting wrenches in specific sizes...

Pros/cons of French-style "clés à pipes" socket wrenches

Depends what you work on and where, I work mobile so keep a couple of these style wrenches in my diagnostic bag, great for 7mm nuts on small fan motors, also useful for hose clamps. We have an agency for French made equipment, interestingly these style wrenches are depicted in their service...
