    Tool Box Covers

Thanks for the replies! I think i'll have a go at making something. If it turns out ok I'll post some pictures. Honcho, I'm near Oxford UK, the work truck is really too small for what i do but budget and our narrow town roads and parking mean something i could easily work out of would be...

    Tool Box Covers

I have treated myself to a Hazet mini Assistent for mobile repair work, now i have got it i am wanting to keep it looking tidy for as long as possible. The Assistent will live in the back of the service truck so i am thinking about getting a cover made  to stop it getting scratched etc...

    Why Snap-On?

I wouldn't say i am using logic at all, and would agree i am stupid for having made the connection between owner and tool. I haven't met any similarly dislikable people with such an allegiance to one brand of tools etc to form a similar association with other manufacturers (plus i hope i am...

    Why Snap-On?

I occasionally used to work alongside another guy from another company, they would be installing/repairing milking parlours and i'd be working on the milk cooling equipment. He was very proud of his Snap-On tools, but he was (in my opinion) a back stabbing incompetent *** hole. (he would tell...

Improper use of the variable speed on your drills/drivers/impacts is no bueno!?

It would make me think the switch is not fit for purpose, sometimes you need to run the drill at a slower speed than the lowest gear will allow for, such as hole saws etc.

    Toolbox drawer liner

I found someone selling offcuts of dog grooming mats on ebay, got enough to line new my Hazet assistent. My old Britool box i lined with cardboard, it was cheap and i made it so it covered the sides of the draws too. Every now and then i would give it a spray with wd40 or similar to help stop my...

    Getting started on HVAC

I think the book 'Modern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning' is used for training in the States, (i'm in the uk so things are different here). Its not the best book on the market but will give a grounding in the subject. There are a lot of techs with youtube channels showing what is typical of...

Had a close call with my well pump today !

Use the pressure switch to operate a contactor to power the well pump, it should last years then with no trouble.

    Opinions on stripper/crimper style?

For wire stripping i have a pair of Ideal Industries strippers, for crimpers i have a pair of KEW ratchet crimpers, the ratchet ones do a much better crimp, if space or weight is not an issue i would recommend ratchet ones over normal ones.

    Vaccum doesn't seem to hold..

Could be moisture if it tops out at 1200 microns. Put some fresh oil in your vacuum pump and try again. (Change the oil when its hot)

    Killed my IR2131 impact wrench

I say fix it. Even if it costs more than a new one. Next time you feel you are losing your temper with something, remember the cost and frustration of this incident and walk away.

Best lube for toolbox drawer slides

Britool recommended vaseline on their draw slides which i used to start with, then just used white spray grease. After 20 years i have retired the box as the bottom rusted out. (I do a lot of farm work)

Anyone using Gedore Pliers & Cutters

Had some CK cutters with the gaps in the jaws for stripping common UK wire sizes, the joint soon wore so the cutting edges didn't line up well so there was always a few uncut strands when working with multi stranded wires. Knipex are nice, my favorite cutters are NWS. I have some Eclipse...

    9mm fasteners?

Bought some Gedore spanners on ebay, mixed styles, think they are old stock clearance. Anyway there is a 9mm ratchet spanner and am curious where you would find 9mm headed fasteners used as i can't recall ever seeing one!
