    hose crimper recommendations

I don't think the mastercool crimper will work on hydraulic hoses, the hose and fitting construction is different in each and so the type of crimp needed.

    2" ratchet strap question

If thats the only job you are going to do with it, cut the hook off the long strap without damaging the webbing. Remove the bolt that holds the short strap to the ratchet handle and put the loop on the end of the long strap in place of the short one.

    Anybody Use These?

I have a Trident 10mm one, its great for undoing fan motor guard bolts on refrigeration kit, once lose you can swivel it round 90' and use as a nut driver. Also working on the same equipment you don't always have a clear path to swing a wrench so being able to alter the angle means you can get...

    Tools from the old world

Have a look on ebay for a Briticent Gripper, I prefer the older wire models but the plastic ones would be better if shadows are a problem.

Replacement for a run capacitor-- recommended specs

If i had to choose i would go with a lower rated uF one, many motors run for ages with capacitors that have aged and now have a lower rating without apparent harm, but i have seen a motor burn up within a week where a higher uF capacitor had been fitted. Just get the correct one even if you...

    Who uses liquid electrical tape?

I use it, its great for painting over crimps, or those DIN plugs you get on some solenoid coils to make them water proof. I was put off by the price originally but would not be without in on the truck now.

How do you wash your tools?

If only mildly dirty, one of those degreaser hand wipes, then dry with paper towel, if if really bad paper towel and some methanol. I have some stuff in an aerosol called Grease Gobbler which will move anything but also dissolves paint and plastic though its good for moving glue etc.

    Tools from the old world

Just to add to what has been already explained, I'll give an example of if i bought and sold a replacement fan motor, 350mm fan motor cost to me is £100, i am charged £100 for the motor and £20 VAT so £120 in total by my supplier. Say I sell it for £200, the customer gets charged £240, £40 of...

What are your pet peeves with hand tools?

Those rubberised grips that perish while the rest of the tool is still useful, also find them in household items where they don't add any functionality to the item and are just a place for germs to hide etc.

Can anyone recommend a decent PVC cutter?

I use something like this on small jobs, http://www.pvcbuildingproducts.co.uk/spear--jackson-20-predator-hardpoint-pvc-and-hard-plastic-saw-2065-p.asp On bigger projects i might get the chop saw, or battery circular saw out.

    How to store tye raps

I keep mine in the bag they come in, make a small cut in the center of the bag to pull them out, that way they can't get out on their own. That holder would be ok in a workshop etc but i work mobile repairing stuff so it would get knocked over all too easily.
