    Motion Sensor on Porch Lights

Most likely, the light closest to the switch is where you'll have to install the motion sensor. To save wire, most electricians will use the shortest run possible to reach the first light, then daisy chain to the second one. It's easy to tell. Remove the light and check the wiring inside. If...

    Poulan lawn tractor wiring

Not quite. Amps in any circuit is determined by the resistance of the circuit and the voltage applied, Ohm's Law. My Jeep has a 130 amp alternator and a battery capable of supplying up to 650 amps, but it doesn't damage the 3 watt dome lights. ;)

Lift for garage over basement questions?

Which would cost more, paying a structural engineer or having a car/lift combo fall into the basement. Do the math. ;)

    Interior Plumbing Kerfuffle

The internal frictional losses are pretty high in that corrugated tubing. Something smooth on the inside will make for far less work for the pump in the dishwasher.

    Pex and exposure to light?

If you're really worried about it, just cover the pex with some of that split foam insulation. But it takes many, many days of exposure to direct sunlight to cause enough damage for pex to fail. It would take decades of opening the door for a few minutes to let enough light in to be a problem.

    a new garage/home after Harvey

That *****, but it looks like you definitely made lemonade from those lemons! If the new house didn't flood during Harvey, it's highly unlikely that it ever will. Parts of Cypress were devastated. I was up there right after the storm, taking supplies to some friends that had over 4 feet of...

Squirrels in the walls of my Shop!

The ol' rat-trap-in-a-box has always worked well for me. The box is just to make certain that they can only approach from the business end. ;)

    High quality toilet guts?

The quality of your water has a lot to do with how long rubber and plastics live in the tank. High mineral content builds up a crust that can cause leakage. High chlorine content ravages them pretty quickly. If you use one of those in-tank toilet cleaner pods that contains chlorine then you...

What type of gasket dressing/sealant for a transmission?

The brown stuff that stays gooey forever is quite likely Permatex Form-A-Gasket #2. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FW4MDO/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Stuff makes a mess, but it seals very well. ;)

22mm or 7/8" for Lug Nuts

Years ago I was having new tires put on a truck. I was watching this guy just keep holding the trigger on his impact gun on one of the lug nuts. I interrupted and asked what was up. He responded "This one is crossthreaded, but I'll get it on all the way". My response "How in the HELL would...

22mm or 7/8" for Lug Nuts

My 1973 Pontiac had those, so they're not exactly a "new" invention. ;)

    Finally got the AC (mini-split)

The disconnect is required by code. It allows a repair person to KNOW that the power will stay off while working inside the unit. People get injured or killed every year when they turn off the breaker and then someone that doesn't know about the repair comes in, the room is uncomfortable and...

    Compre3ssor comparison

I bought my Sanborn 28 years ago. 5HP (Marketing HP), 240 volt, 25 gallon horizontal, rolling tank, twin cylinders. It's had the **** run out of it and it just keeps going. Porting heads with a die grinder for hours on end, sanding cars, impact guns, sandblasting, etc. Alas, the quality of...

    Insulate or Not?

Brick is around R-Zero. Leave the insulation out of those 2 walls and you'll be paying to heat Ohio. ;)

Salt kills weeds better than Round-up (any downside???)

I killed off a ridiculous amount of English Ivy in our backyard with this stuff: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bayer-Advanced-32-oz-Brush-Killer-Plus-Quart-Concentrate-704640B/203124091 It takes a few weeks before you start seeing the effects, but it will happen. A few places I had to reapply...

Is 2” of R7 spray foam better than fiberglass R19?

That's a good solution if you're just tired of the T1-11 look. However, if the T1-11 is rotting or termite infested then leaving it in place is not a wise choice. :(

Old compressor tank - hydro or not?

Look closely at that pic. That fella had years of warning that his tank was past End Of Life. All of that rust on the outside of the tank didn't happen overnight. :dunno: It was thinning from both sides. :(

Propane tank size for radiant floor heat??

What BTU rating? Tankless water heaters use massive amounts of gas while on. Far more than a tank heater does. If the tank will be above ground it needs to be physically large enough (surface area above the liquid inside the tank) to be able to supply enough vapor in really cold weather.
