    Improving basic dust collector

In our testing of the bags from AFF, there is virtually no resistance... their term for the bags is "transparent"... and, based on evidence, I'd have to agree. I'd submit that even if you were to vent your dust collector outside, you'd still be susceptible to micro-fine particles because its...

    Improving basic dust collector

Check woodworker.com "dust collection" in the search bar. Bags will be listed by diameter. Depending on your DC, you'll need 2 bags, an upper and a lower... or, a heavy plastic bag could replace the lower bag... keeping in mind that will reduce your filter media by 50% (some exceptions apply)...

No more snow... lots of rain!! I just have a few minutes this afternoon... my misses and I are headed out to our "local" for a bit to eat and possibly an adult beverage. But, I thought I'd share the view out our back door... This guy was kind enough to leave both his antlers in our yard a...

    Improving basic dust collector

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K69ILFQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I own a Fein shop vac and they're, no doubt, "fine" machines. But, last I knew, you could buy a 1 hp dust collector for about the same money... relatively quiet and moves a LOT more air. ...D

woodworker.com ... I just checked and they have at least 1 size in stock... lol Oops... just re-looked at that listing... looks like that bag may be for the 1hp "floor crawler" DC. I just went on the site and typed in "dust collection" ...D Sent from my SM-N960U using The Garage Journal...

Re: DRIVESITFAR IS GETTING ORGANIZED in his 9x15 portion of 2 car garage. DIY’s & COO Hey Drives, A few years ago, my friend's water heater wouldn't stay lit... he finally found the problem... His heater sat on a round base, a couple inches high. Air for combustion was supposed to be drawn...

    Improving basic dust collector

As far as reduced efficiency... Any time you alter the path of a fluid (in this case, air) moving through piping... such as by adding fittings... Tee's, elbows and the like, flow is affected. In initial testing, we found the flow of our dust collectors to be less than the competition. We...

    Improving basic dust collector

Brad... A dust collector, to me, is much quieter than a shop vac. Shop vacs tend to "whine"... pretty much what you'll hear with a dust collector is the air moving through the duct work. While not necessarily "quiet", a dust collector is quieter and is much more suited for what youre doing...

    Improving basic dust collector

MC... You are absolutely correct on both counts. Adding a cyclone actually reduces the efficiency (less "suction") of a dust collector. Adding a dust bag with a "finer weave" will help reduce the smaller dust particles in the air. I'm sure I'm opening a can of worms but, what the hell...

Re: DRIVESITFAR IS GETTING ORGANIZED in his 9x15 portion of 2 car garage. DIY’s & COO Sorry to hear the raccoons are back... We were having a real problem with moles and gophers in our yard. The cat we had a year or so ago (the coyotes have since gotten him) was hell on the moles... he even...

Checked the thread weights I have on hand... 69, 92 and 277. I'm sure your machine would handle the first 2 sizes and should handle the 277 depending on availability of the correct needles. I was thinking my thread was polyester... it's actually stranded nylon. Either should work. You'll...

I'm happy to help! One thing I might also suggest is to, sooner rather than later, replace the cotton thread with a heavier polyester. You shouldn't be able to break the thread by pulling it through the machine. I'll double check the weight of thread I've been using. I've bought thread...

Actually, no Menards here either. I ordered it in Wyoming and had it shipped out here. A 10 x 20 wouldn't be terribly expensive. Remember that I've set mine up for temporary use... you could do the same. Use it for as long as you need... then move it or sell it. I'm sure something like that...

    ...and so it begins

I did take a bit of a break today... definitely enjoyed chatting with the neighbors! IIRC, about $2,200 for the 14' x 31.5' frame from Menards. Plus, I got an 11% rebate on the deal... so about 2 large. So far, about $650 in the tin. I'm sure tomorrow's bill will be another $400 or so. If...

A little progress today... We woke up to a steady rain. Over the past 36 or so hours we've gotten more than inch. There is still a bit of snow on the ground but it is melting fast. The fields are melting. The water level in our pond is rising... and that's a good thing... It's been warm...

I think that part is $4 or $5... if I order something at the same time, shipping costs will be absorbed. Maybe a few cents in sales tax. The value of the parcel would easily be less than $15... if that could work for you as far as customs/VAT. Any other small parts you're looking for??

Hmmm... somewhere in there is an original house with garage... with a few additions... At some point, I'm sure it will sell but it will definitely depend on the "right person" finding it ...D
