    Koken ease of warranty?

Man those people reply fast. I already got an email response back saying they would replace it for free once they see it and make sure there are no signs that it was used with an impact (which it wasn't). So I'm going to say so far that the warranty seems not so bad. Will send it to them...

    Koken ease of warranty?

I broke a 5mm hex ("Allen") socket today replacing sway bar links (on a 2015 Escape with 18K miles, so nearly no corrosion or rust), so when I say broke, I mean the tip sheared right off under nearly no load at all. I'm assuming this HAD to be some kind of a defect, and am in no way complaining...

What are your pet peeves with hand tools?

This is exactly what I was going to say. The very few stores that I've been in where I found quality USA brands weren't just higher than online suppliers (a little higher I could do, especially for the instant in-your-hands factor). No, they were, as said above, many TIMES the online prices.

Snap-on warranty.. Not what i thought.. a little disappointing.

I've always done warranty for both SK and Snap On through email. So far both have either sent me a replacement, or at most, requested I send mine in free of charge for replacement/repair. Actually just emailed Snap On two days ago to warranty two ratchets I recently broke. (FLL80 and SLX80...

8th Annual Garage Journal Secret Santa (Official Thread)

Just wanted to post and say that I got a call saying that I did indeed receive mine. However, I wont be home to open it until after the holiday, so my photos will be late.

Are no scratch lug nut impact sockets worth buying?

I've always felt a little apprehensive about these. In part because I've never seen anyone use them, which I think says a lot. I have always wondered about the Koken ultra thin wall impact sockets though. I'm thinking those would be a better idea, or at least that's where I'd rather put MY...

    Snap-On FHLL80?

I use it all the time. Yes, when it fits I use it for belts (not so handy for Honda belts because there's not a lot of clearance). But I use it even more for times requiring leverage in a 3/8" drive.

Official Elves thread, to help out the 2015 SS.

I'll start by saying that I'm not picky and would appreciate anything that I happen to get, no matter what it is. That said, I'm an automotive technician. Been working in the field for only a year, and am almost finished with a degree in Automotive Technology. I like anything tool related...

    Best Wrench Recommendations

I guess I would say WrightGrip or Proto ASD. I use FD+ wrenches at work, but I have a few random WrightGrip and Proto ASD wrenches at home that I have used a little. I haven't noticed a difference in terms of performance out of the three. The Wright and Proto are heavier and thicker than the...

    Hammer (BFH) for auto work?

I primarily use two hammers at work, typically to break stuff loose. Both from Sears. I bought this dead blow: And then this (3lb I think) sledge: Fairly cheap for two hammers that honestly hold up pretty well to daily use.

    SK X-Frame Ratchet Wrench

I was excited about these when I first heard about them, because I wanted a set of USA made ratcheting wrenches. When they never became available, I bought a set from Snap On and lost excitement for the SK wrenches. I might still get a set when the metric set IS available, but it's no longer...

T40 bits, who makes the strongest?

The proto impact is really good, but the bits dont seem to last in my experience. They dont break, they deform. After about 6 rotors the philips bit I use is almost useless due to severe twisting. I havent checked for a replacement, but if they're cheap ill buy a bunch and I guess it wont...

Lets see your Tool Carts/Service Carts

I have an 8057 in black from Sunex for home use. I was looking for something different for use at work. Not a whole lot of space, which is why I decided on buying just the two carts. The smaller one will be moved around a lot, the krsc46 probably wont be. I like the way the matco looks, but...
