Before you run this machine with that motor, do your home work! The Champion Commandair was designed to run with the 1750 rpm motor. Get your rpms right. North Star 2 stage ?

I'm not sure with this unit either. But some info on the Quincy, Atlas Copco owns Quincy, Chicago Pneumatic, Bellaire and they package the NAPA and looks to be Snap On units. Their heavier units know as the AR compressor, this is the Chinese Saylor Beall clone. The Automan series are the...

    5HP 220v air compressor decision

The 3 phase is cheaper to run, about half the amp draw. If you have it, use it.

Any easy(and cheap) way to test the CFM output of an Air Compressor?

4+ cfm per Hp? Even the best screw compressor is only 4 cfm. Kaeser claims almost 5, but it is mythical. The best a reciprocating is going to get is around 3.7 cfm per hp. And this will be a freshly broken in new machine, it just goes down from there.

Benefit/Detriment of reducing Air Compressor Cut Out Pressure

Two words "Boyles Law", The absolute pressure exerted by given mass of an ideal gas is inversely proportional to the volume it occupies if the temperature and amount of gas remains unchanged within a closed system. Think of it this way, when you turn on your garden hose with nothing on the...

    Old Ingersoll Rand compressor

Do yourself a favor with the gasket kit, make sure you get one with the graphoil head gaskets. They seal better and less chance of a blown head gasket!

    Old Ingersoll Rand compressor

Nice score, the 253 is the 242's big brother, 7.5 hp, properly cared for will last a long, long time. All parts are still available, cylinders, pistons, heads, cranks. May not be a SB, but I'd put one up against it any day. I/R screwed up discontinuing these units.

    DIY Compressor After Cooler

I'm an Atlas Copco (AC) dealer as well as multiple other brands of air compressors including Saylor Beall. As part of the AC indoctrination they took me thru the AC plant in Rock, SC (I said NC in the previous) were they package AC, Bellaire, Napa and I believe other brands. These were the...

    DIY Compressor After Cooler

Nice set up! Just remember when it's time for parts on the compressor, NAPA= Atlas Copco= Industrial Air, only parts interchangable are the valves. I've been to the plant in Rock Hill, NC where they package the machine. When I asked them what they were doing with Saylor Beall pumps, they had...

School me on new IR compressor

You will be ok with 30 wt. non-detergent oil, it has worked in small compressors for a 100 years now. As far as parts, your local Air Centers (I/R distributor) will unlikely be able to help, look for the kinda place that sell parts for the HF, HD, or Lowes compressors.

    Air compressor opinion?

A word of warning with the Atlas/ Belaire/CP/NAPA/Northstar units. When it is time to do the valves, the valve plate is $243.00 and the gaskets, you'll need 2 or them, are a little over $20.00 each. While you will be able to get parts for these units for a while, it ain't going to be cheap.
