The spring you want to check is down by the crankshaft on the lever mechanism. When the machine stops it pull a pin upward to relieve pressure on the head. As it (the compressor) starts, the centrifugal weights actuates the lever arm pushing the pin down closing the reliefs in the head. If...

    Air compressor opinion?

I don't want to pop anyone's bubble, but I don't know of a single compressor assembled in the US that has 1oo% US content. Just like your car. The innards, castings, and little things stuck on the machines are sourced to the lowest bidder.

ok guys need some help puting a value on some compressors

The high pressure machines will be of no use for the regular garage. If you think a two stage compressor parts are high, wait to you have to buy a part for one of these. Not to mention Bauer is a ***** to work with. You're going to have to look at the specialty high pressure segment of air...

The only way you might be able to distinguish it from one or the other is the color under the current paint, but regardless it is the same machine, Champion R15. The $700 is what I get for a refurb. 5 Hp. When I get them, they usually don't stay around long.

    Help Identifying Compressor!

It can be both a Gardner Denver as well as a Champion, since Gardner Denver owns Champion. When G/D bought Champion they dropped most of their A series compressors, they were pricing themselves out of a market. Then there is a big global investment company that owns G/D. Here is the fun part...

Old Curtis compressor followed me home. How did I do?

Need a model # or a better view of the pump to tell what Curtis you have. Expensive parts? Depends what you are comparing to. Rebuild kits are available, some rings and a valve job and it should be like new. The only safety factor I see is a missing belt guard. I you don't have any rust...

    Is this old compressor badass?

Just what Fixnair said. Wear parts still available. Need a casted part (piston, cylinder, rod, crank), forget it. Can't beat it for free. A 5 hp. motor would pull that nicely. I'm pretty sure I have a parts book for it. Bob C, is the Worthington a Holyoke unit or one of the big Buffalo units?

    Air compressor running HOT?

In small reciprocating air compressors 30 wt. non-detergent oil is all that is needed. I have found if the machine is kept outside you want to change it at least 2wice a year, inside once a year. Stuff labeled compressor oil is a selling trick, easy to charge a couple bucks extra to re-label a...

    Question about Cooling air

You don't dry the air before you compress is because you will need a much larger dryer to do the job. I think it is something like 4 times the size. I doesn't make any sense, bigger machine, more power, you get the idea. Compressor your air, if you want put it thru an aftercooler, (most...
