    Why do electricians leave

I found this place a few years ago, but never frequented much. Just lately I've been here almost daily. But it definitely has a little different vibe than what I first found. And I find your posts to be useful and spot on. I don't come here so much for the advice. I am in construction and...

    Why do electricians leave

FWIW, on new construction our boxes are 20" off the floor to top of box. We'd pull the wires to reach the floor. We'd strip the cable to 8-10", and push the extra 10" up into the ceiling cavity, stapling from the box up. So we intentionally had the extra 2 feet that OP is complaining of...

    Why do electricians leave

I'd fire him and find a new electricain......But out of curiosity, what are you paying him per hour?

    Off-branded receptacles and switches

I wouldn't use no-name. I agree the the P&S Legrand are probably the best to use. I used to use them. I prefer Leviton, but I don't argue that P&S is better. I used to use them. I am not a fan of the Eaton devices, but those are safe. How many devices do you need that price matters much...

    Preferred countertop tile repair adhesive?

Good time to replace the entire '80's countertop. Half kidding. The tile is likely set with "thinset" mortar. You can re-attach it with a number of products, including epoxy, liquid nails, etc. But matching the grout may be a challenge.

Solid torsion bar for OH door?

The doors should be equipped with springs that allow easy hand-operated opening. Any residential operator should be able to open any residential door.

Show me your car wash setup, wall mounted pressure washers

I'll get pics, but I have this Northern Hardware 30 amp, 240V electric pressure washer. https://www.northerntool.com/products/northstar-electric-cold-water-total-start-stop-stationary-pressure-washer-2500-psi-3-gpm-230-volts-1571108?cm_mmc=Google-pla&utm_source=Google_PLA&utm_medium=Pressure...

    Simple Ground Question

The photos are tough for me to see. Is this old switch built into the lamp? While a ground is an added safety measure, there are tons of lamps with 2 wire cords. IDK that I've seen many lamps with 3-wire cords.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I've purchased (3) German cars in the past 2 years, all pre-2019, and my daughter just purchased 'our' 4th.. I won't even consider a newer one. These are all proven drivetrains. No electric assist, no 4 cyl turbos. (and,of course, no loans, although that was not the driving factor)

Help me spend money - DWE7491RS vs. GTS15-10

What are you looking to do with these saws? I have an older (15 years or so) Bosch electric table saw similar to the one in op pic. I also have both a MW and DW battery table saw. Which both do about as well as the Bosh plug-in. (not quite, but close) If you need a cabinet saw, that's a...

    2 Post Lift Placement

Is it too late to consider a single 18' wide door? That'd be my preference.

    What type of roof?

Usually the shingles install specs require at least a 4 pitch. I'd go 6 -8. 6 is easy to roof without sliding off. 8 gets tougher. All newer construction (last 30 years) around here are 10 - 12 pitch. But OP says 5 is common in his area.

Conduit entrance into shop from underground question....

How is OP dealing with the three wires coming in - 2 x 4/0 Al, 1 x 2/0 Al as this is a 350' run from the transformer & meter that was put in 25+ years ago? What are more of the specifics on that? I wouldn't want to try to re-pull 350' of 4/0'4/0-2/0 through 2". I wouldn't have sized it 2" 25...

New house came with LED “can” lights in garage

The spacing is too far apart for OP's shop. There are brighter wafer lights, but they aren't doing to do much spaced 15' on center. You'd want closer to 5'. I'd probably leave the existing wafer lights (possibly replace them" and do some linear LED strips as others have suggested.

    What type of roof?

Why so low of a pitch? Why not go maybe 8 pitch? Either way, architectural shingles will last at least 30 years, if installed properly. I'd do these or standing seam, but I don't see standing seam being anything less than double the architecturals.

Pressure test in concrete slab tubing

I don't think you need anywhere near 100 psi to test that tubing.... What's the pressure on a boiler? 15 psi?

    Water pressure

I had 110 psi at my last house. I built it, in 1995. I loved the 110 psi......until a number of faucets and valves failed. I finally put in a pressure reducer to get it down to 80 psi. Don't run 110 psi for long term.
