No input on the torque wrench but the mid torque impact is going to be your best bet. It fits more places and has enough torque to do what he'll be needing it for. He may eventually want something bigger if he continues on his path, but the smaller one will get way more use even then.

I was going to say the same. It's a great way to learn something that you can't find a teacher for, or look up part numbers, find instructions for tearing something apart, order parts/tools that you can't find local....they're amazing. There are some real problems involved with phones as well...

I have a Picquic muilt bit driver in my kitchen drawer, I'm actually quite impressed with it. To be fair though, I haven't used it for anything too heavy duty. Beyond that, I tend to agree that they're sort of a waste of time.

I use 1/2" about 1/3 of the time I need a socket...then again, the other 2/3 is 3/4", so I'm a little out of the norm.
