Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

Any info on the governor setup on the pump sheave? I was sitting here thinking perhaps it was pre-electric motor driven to keep the pump from overspeeding? Very interesting for sure. I would like to know how exactly it functions.

    Quincy 210 oil leak

Nothing in the parts manual on oil capacity, but I have a later 210 and I can tell you the dipstick length from the top of the case to the bottom of the dipstick is 5-3/8", the low level mark is at 5-1/4" and the upper mark is 4-7/8" Hope this helps.

Anyone run their saylor beall 705 with a 7.5hp motor?

Just to clarify, pump manufacturers spec the motor HP required to turn the pump at a specific CFM, while staying within a specific RPM range for proper lubrication. That being said, unless a larger motor can be geared to produce more CFM, while NOT EXCEEDING the pumps maximum allowable RPM, it...

Anyone run their saylor beall 705 with a 7.5hp motor?

Your statement is just a bad idea. There is a reason that manufacturers spec minimum and maximum RPM limits.

Anyone run their saylor beall 705 with a 7.5hp motor?

As Jswain stated, you MUST stay within the allowable RPM range spec'd by the pump manufacturer. You could use the 7.5 HP on a pump that a 5 HP motor is designed for, but unless you just happen have the motor laying around and can utilize it rather than buying a new 5 hp why would you?

    Identify this IR compressor?

I'm a fan of both the Champion R15 and the SB 705 as they both use disc valves. The IR, not so much as I just don't find the reed valves to be as robust / dependable as disc valves. Other than a Quincy QR-25 pump, you have 2 of my favorites.

    Titanium Hammers

Well, back when I was framing every day (before the advent of nail guns) I had tried most waffle faced hammers and my all time favorite was a Plumb framing axe...absolutely the best balanced striking tool ever. I had one that lasted at least 5 years before I broke the handle (I don't recommend...

How to re-anchor a 4-post lift using old holes?

As long as the new wedge anchor has material to grip, they should work fine. I would first want to inspect the holes by sliding, say a piece of welding rod with a small 90° bend at one end, down the side of the hole to verify how much inside surface area is left. I always drill my holes all the...

    The Abrasive Blasting Resource Thread

"bad/ leaking cylinder" You need to get much more specific info as that's pretty damn vague. Gasket? Bad valve? Cracked cylinder? Worn out rings? Major overhaul kit is around $1500. Including new valves, over 2K That pump alone weighs 815 lbs. That's what I call a BMF! QR series are...
