Binks Quincy 310 air compressor HELP!

Those internals look really clean, especially being as it didn't have a air filter element. I'm guessing that it was only run for a very short period without the element. The dual control on pilot valve mode will save your motor when sandblasting. It also allows the pump to cool as it's in...

    Cheap and fast stairs

Re-read my post as I elaborated a bit. It's more about design than execution in your case. It would behove you to not be so defensive with your remarks. Don't enter a pie baking contest if you can't handle someone stating that your pie tastes like ****!

    Cheap and fast stairs

According to a study, falls down stairs cause an average of approximately 1 million injuries per year. In total, this adds up to the second leading cause of accidental injuries in the entire country. Additionally, falling down the stairs causes an average of 12,000 deaths per year. Just...

    tightening new air compressor belts

I've tried a couple of different sheave spreaders, but you can't rotate the sheaves while using them. A quick and painless spreader between the motor and pump can be made by cutting a piece of 1/2" pipe to the appropriate length, threading a nut onto a 1/2" diameter x 3" +/- bolt, place the bolt...

    tightening new air compressor belts

Patience, persistence & problem solving are required to CORRECTLY align and tension V-belts without a motor alignment plate. #1, check the owners manual for correct belt tension. #2, use a straight edge across the face of the pump sheave, spanning across the motor sheave, measuring between the...

    Anchor air compressor

I'm in California, so anchoring vertical receiver compressors is a must. I know a lot of folks utilize hockey pucks under the mounting feet, but they are too hard to be an effective vibration isolator. I prefer rubber vibration pads designed for that purpose. An important aspect that is...

Edging/Squaring a new to me 3/4" steel plate bench top

I had a similar issue with one of our 4x10x 1/2" table tops. I clamped a 2x2x 5/16 x 10' angle on the top edge with one leg facing up to use as a straight edge. I held it back from the edge just enough to be able to grind to the deepest defect with my 7" angle grinder. I found it quite easy to...

What do I need to raise a couple of beams in my garage? (first time home owner)

I would suggest finding a GOOD framing contractor to get a better look at the situation. He would be able to let you know how much work is involved, (ballpark cost) if it appears to require a structural engineer and if so, they would know good engineers to work with.

What do I need to raise a couple of beams in my garage? (first time home owner)

Although your photos don't show more of what we really need to see as to their function, what I believe I can make out is that the double 2x4 or 2x6 is carrying diagonal 1x6 bracing to support a roof purlin. That's about all the info I can give you without seeing more of the structure. Now I...

2nd Air tank pressure cutout switch location and plumbing

    1) Does your propane tank have a port at the bottom that would allow you to drain condensate? 2) You need to verify the duty cycle of your compressor pump & motor. The 'PRO' side of your idea is although you'll have a longer run time, constant starts are much harder on a motor than continuous...

    Turbine, gable vent, or nothing?

Being as your building is so long and narrow, personally I would go with four evenly spaced turbine vents.

    Rim board/floor opening header

Technically, a header is below the top plates in a wall and a beam can either be above the top plates or below if not contained in a wall. His situation is actually 'heading out' an opening in the floor system for a staircase.

    Rim board/floor opening header

Lookup Simpson top flange joist / beam hangers. No need to infill. To attach your stair stringers, run a 2" deep saw kerf through the 1-1/2 dimension, at the bottom of the plumb cut then slide a joist hanger into the kerf. No need to make a 'seat cut' and the kerf captures the hanger for you.

How to hold this lawn striper up. AKA, The most GJ-appropriate question ever!

Fab up a strut to come off the rear of the seat mount. You made the roller, surely you can make a easy-on, easy off strut? Without having it in my shop to look at closer, that's the best I can do.
