Accoustical tile vs. Drywall for a ceiling

A quick search produces... -A 4x8 sheet of 7/16" OSB weighs about 47lbs. -A 4x8 sheet of 5/8" gypsum sheetrock would come in at 70lbs.

Accoustical tile vs. Drywall for a ceiling

Have you considered OSB or another type of plywood? Not sure on weight, but I'm sure a quick search of the internet would give you the answers to that. Ryan D.

    My Epoxy-Coat Adventure!!!

Am I missing something here.? Why are you trying to divide the floor into two sections than sections again? A 12x19 floor isn't real huge (same as mine), so if you roll the whole back quarter at once, throw down some flakes, than move ahead to the next quarter rolling that out, lay the flakes...

A question about epoxy clear coating.

I seen the lowes here was selling Rustoleom clear epoxy but it was solvent based. I was wondering if that's a no-no. Its seems weird they'd only sell water based epoxy and only solvent based clear.

Show me your one car garages! Links to build threads would be appreciated!

B'n'H, what's the coors light sign? Is that a poster, or a metal sign, or what? The silver bullet is my drink of choice in the winter months so I'm always looking for cool new memorabilia ideas besides a neon sign.

    Info for applying acid stain

I have done a basement floor on a 14k sq/ft house with acid stain, but I'm not sure what you mean by shell effect. With this floor we used spray cans to apply the base coat (darker color), than followed right behind that with a lighter color in swirling pattern and applied that over top of of...

finally a garage of my own

Congrats on owning your own garage! Its a great feeling. I feel your pain for money being tight, and not being able to insulate and drywall the place just yet. Any chance you can spray bomb the walls and studs with cheap white paint until funds free up for any further updates? It would sure help...

    Faced or Un-faced Insulation?

Talked with an electrician at work today. There is no problem with blowing insulation right over the cans. It is normal practice in new homes. Where can a person find cellulose insulation? I poked around menards and didn't see anything besides fiberglass.

    Paint the ceiling?

Since you say it's a 'light tan', I say give it a go! The ceiling will look lighter than the walls anyways.

    Faced or Un-faced Insulation?

Putting cardboard around the cans just doesn't sound any safer than fiberglass covering them. Especially after they dry up after years of sitting next to the warm lights. I'd like to hear more comments on this.

    GarageDeck arrives tomorrow!!!!

I like the way the alloy color reflects a lot of light. Great color scheme! I was plotting something similar for my garage but was thinking of vct. How much was it for you to do it in the g'deck?

Need some ideas for big wall art...

Ditto to what Jay said. Divide off the bottom 1/3 with cabinets, and any 5, 6, or 7ft image would look much bigger up there. If you're not looking to spend the money on cabinets right now, paint a bold (~12" wide) line 5.5' off the ground in a color you would enjoy. Probably not the color of the...

    Faced or Un-faced Insulation?

Trythis, thanks for the idea. I am ready to insulate my finished ceiling but plan to use it as storage also and do not want to get fiberglass on everything I put up there. Nasty stuff! So I was thinking of putting batting side up to create a barrier (which I know isn't good for moisture). This...
