Above 1200 Sq/FT The Lab [Latvia]

After getting the back side of the foundation cleaned and inspected, the next step was to start protecting it more thoroughly. We began by patching all the visible holes with lime mortar. Using lime mortar is important for an old building like this because it’s strong, durable, and still allows...

After finishing the roof and finally getting the scaffolding down, I figured I still had a bit of time left this year before winter hits. So I decided to tackle one more important job - exposing the foundation and protecting it from ground moisture. We started with the back side of the...

Quick update on the Lab project — the roof is officially finished! Took a bit longer than I first thought, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. Big step forward and it already feels like the whole place is coming together. Next up are some rain gutters to get installed, which should...

Here’s the link to my Land Cruiser restoration project from back in the day. I haven’t posted much though since finishing the build some years ago. This summer, I took the Cruiser on a trip through Norway — over 6,000 kilometers in two weeks. Along the way I snapped a bunch of photos, so here...

A little progress update on the Lab build. Finally got to the stage where the roof is being covered with metal sheeting. The frame went up earlier in the summer, but it dragged out a bit longer than expected. The weather this summer has been miserable, which didn’t exactly help things move...

Not a huge update this time around, but I did run another roll of film through the tank. On the build side, things are moving along week by week. Nothing too dramatic to show, but it’s getting there. I’ll try to share more photos soon once there’s a bit more progress to capture. The timing...

Thanks a lot for the kind words! The tonality really comes from the film I use. For color I mostly shoot Kodak Portra 400 and when I go b&w my go-tos are Ilford HP5 or Delta.

Big thanks to @Ryan for featuring The Lab on Garage Journal. Really cool to see it up there, and I appreciate the kind words. Been a wild project so far and still plenty to go, but stoked it’s getting some love. @madison069 Haha yeah, you’re not kidding! Getting that roof sorted felt like a...

The roof construction is finally completed, which feels like an important milestone in this project. All of the main structure is in place and ready for the next stage. The metal sheets have already been ordered, and now it is just a matter of waiting for them to arrive. If the weather...

@zanyad Owned the place just over a year now, and already stacked up a ton of photos. Just trying to document as much as I can while the Lab takes shape. Cool to look back and see the progress, even if it’s slower than I’d like. @ChefRex @loganb Thanks! I’m trying to keep the thread updated as...

It’s been a while since I posted, but man… summer’s been crazy busy. Between work, some travel, and of course, putting in time at the Lab, there hasn’t been a whole lot of room to sit down and post. And honestly, another reason it’s been quiet on here is that I shoot mostly film, and y’all know...

Yeah, I’ve been quiet lately — work’s been nuts, squeezed in some summer travels, but got my hands dirty back at the lab as well. Right now, it still feels like I’m doing more tearing down than building up. Total chaos. But weirdly, it feels right, like I’m clearing the way for something cool...

A bit more demolition before the rebuild begins. Before we can start properly building on the house side, there’s still some demolition work to tackle. The old roof structure is partially off now — it’s being lifted a bit higher to give me decent headroom and usable space on the first floor...

Ripped off the old metal sheets from the roof. They’ve served their time. Insulation’s out, attic floor's gone too. Now we can actually see what’s going on with the support beams… and yeah, some of those bad boys gotta go. Bit more work than I hoped, but hey — better now than halfway through...

Snapped a few shots on film around the Lab and my LandCruiser before diving back into renovation mode. There’s something about film that just hits different — dust, light leaks, and all. The Lab’s still rough, but it's got soul. And the Cruiser? Forever looking ready for an adventure. Big push...

With the warmer weather finally kicking in, I’ve been spending a lot more time out at the Lab. It’s been great to be back into the swing of things. One major win last month, I got the place officially hooked up to the power grid. No more juggling generators or running off temporary setups...

Whoa, congrats on kicking things off! Loving the vibes and the scenery around the build, looks like an epic spot. Take it easy, don't rush. Enjoy the whole ride, that’s where the magic’s at 🤙

Totally agree. That panel really did look like something from another era. I’m waiting on a roll of film to be developed so I can share some photos, but the old power box is already gone and the new one’s in ⚡⚡⚡
