Well, that was a short one… This winter didn’t really show up the way I hoped, barely any snow, and it felt like it was over before it even started. But when you’ve got a Subaru WRX, you make the most of whatever you get!

Sound system is dialed in, but the Lab? Far from done 😅 Just waiting on some warmer weather so I can get back to the grind. Still a long road ahead 🛠️

I appreciate that! I’m definitely planning to preserve some of the old look so you can still see the building’s history and how it has evolved over the years. Hoping to find the right balance between restoration and keeping that character intact.

Taking advantage of this cold and snowy stretch to get all the paperwork and planning in order. Once the weather warms up, it'll be time to get hands-on with the repairs again and make some real progress with the Lab’s renovation. Excited to bring the next phase of the project to life.

Recently stopped by the Lab to catch up with my architect and game plan for when it’s not freezing outside. Plan is to rebuild the roof on the other side this summer and keep chipping away at the garage side.

Same here — winter is around the corner, and I’m already looking forward to spring so I can continue with the garage rebuild.

Take a look at this—we're so close! The garage side of the building is nearly covered and protected. Just waiting on those metal sheets to arrive so we can get the roof in place before the snow hits

Thanks! I was surprised too when I saw from the attic side and realized the metal sheets were actually holding up better than expected, even where the tree was growing. I thought for sure the roots would be invading the living space, but luckily not. Planning to replace the roof next summer, so...

The current roof could probably hold up for another decade or so, but I’m thinking I’ll replace it next year anyway. Better to get ahead of it and keep things solid.

The old section of the roof is finally cleared of over 20 years’ worth of leaves, branches, and debris. Feels good to have it done! Looks like next year, the house roof itself might be due for a replacement.

Roof membrane is in place! Now just waiting on the metal sheets to finish it off before winter rolls in. Can’t wait to have this phase locked down and the space fully protected from the snow.

The roof is coming together nicely! Every day we’re one step closer to winter, and one step closer to having this roof finished just in time. Progress feels good.
