Quick question regarding these windshield chargers, how do they charge the battery, when the 12V cig. lighter isn't powered when the key is off? Do these 12V cig. lighters allow for flow to the battery, but not from the battery when not keyed?

When I got new garage doors, I also raised the rails (on the 2 car bay side only) and added that exact opener, I love it! In fact, I like it so much, I now want to add another one to the single bay side.
