Tools that rarely get used anymore

Completely true. Years ago, I had 4 Karmann Ghias... along with 7 engines, a spare bedroom (not to mention garage) FULL of spare parts, and 2 sets of some super rare Porsche wheels that were in-vogue at the time. All of this obtained within 6 months of purchasing the first one. :willy_nil I've...

Head bolts holes in my iron block are rusted, need advice on taps and techniques

Haven't worked on many Benz's, have you? :lol_hitti To the OP: The chaser that T45 linked is super-cheap insurance, for the $5 (shipped even) it's pretty much a no-brainer IMHO.

I got the 7865 set as well  Ordered from Amazon yesterday, arrived today. I'm surprised at how heavy it is, the box it came in barely held it. Seems to be of good quality, I haven't had trouble with anything Astro yet.

    car battery problems

It sounds like a bad cell in the battery to me, batteries do really weird things under that circumstance. It gets worse when you have a heavy amount of electronic controls in the vehicle, you'll hear all types of weird noises, a lot of buzzes and clicks and such.

Nomination for "BEST Automotive Maintenance Feature Ever"

I have an interesting one. Window motors/window regulators- some can be easy, but a lot of them can be the bane of your existence. The best one I've found so far- an early 00s Audi A6. I had to change the rear window motor and regulator on one, so remove door panel and unplug a few connectors...

Nomination for "Worst Automotive Maintenance Feature Ever"

I just thought of another one- A long time ago, I had an early 80's RWD Toyota Celica with the good old 22RE FI 4 cylinder. The time came to do a fuel filter on it, which was inconveniently buried under the intake manifold- you could barely feel it with your hands, and actually seeing it was...

Nomination for "Worst Automotive Maintenance Feature Ever"

This one won it for me. I used to work at a Ford dealer and no matter what you tried to do, diesel would get everywhere. The frame wasn't even the bad part, it was the transmission crossmember when it started dripping- just happened to be right above the back of your neck at the time

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Replaced a CV axle in my SO's car because of a broken ABS exciter ring, also gave it an oil change with Mobil 1 and some Bosch Icons for good measure. Now going to clean up a bit and visit her father, his truck has a sticky throttle body due to carbon buildup, so a bit of cleaning and...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

HA! I'm not the only one that's done that now, my SO thought I was nuts when I did so  It actually works pretty well in a pinch.

    Why is it your favorite?

This for me as well. They're one of those tools that you never knew you couldn't be without, until you start using one. If only they offered them in Dual 80 configuration, they'd be perfect.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

I got my XC batteries today, all is great there. Anyone else find the batteries absolute murder to get out of their package? I almost had to break out the Sawzall lol.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

A very reputable seller on the 'Bay had NIB 2-packs for $87 as a Black Friday special, and there happened to be a $15 off $75 or more flash sale going on, so I took advantage :D

Same here! Best deal I got was a 2-pack of 3.0 XCs for $72.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

That's correct! I know they're a bit last-week, but they seem to be solid tools.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

My first foray into Milwaukee cordless... my good ol' Sawzall was getting lonely :D They're not the Fuel versions- but I'm not a GC or anything, they're just for home use.

    Tool Carts

I have the 5-drawer HF myself, it's a great cart. It feels just as nice as some of the tool-truck brand ones (I used to have a Matco 4-drawer), but for nowhere near the cost. FWIW, when I was looking at them both in-store, it felt much better built than the 4-drawer that they had there...

Budget DA polisher for auto paint... Which would you get

I'd go with the Griot's Garage 6" DA, or GG6 as it's called on the detailing forums. It's the same size as the PC7424, but with more power and a lifetime warranty from Griot's. They're listed at $150, but they can be found much cheaper, especially with an Advance Auto 30% coupon. It's a great...

I hope you have good luck with this one as well. I went through a few cheap ones myself working at a dealer- bending jaws, locking them up, etc. I finally spent the $$ for a Blue-Point 3 jaw one about 10 years ago, and I haven't had a problem since.

Tell me about this Matco box/cart...part 2

That cart is pieced together for sure, and it doesn't look like they did a good job. That style is of much lower quality than your other one, even when new. As far as price goes, I agree with the above: no more than $50, and hardly worth it at that.
