Tecumseh Snowking LH318SA snowblower engine no start

Just sharing some of my experience. Not everyone acceptes these recounted stories at face value, I can only share what I know, or have seen! Remember for most modern males if a little is good, a metric $#!+ tonne is better! As in If you build something to be foolproof someone will build a better...

    Insulating garage foundation

I added 2" pink hard Styrofoam to my basement walls during another run away project. [ran electrical, water, gas and an empty conduit for alarm/data, and future unkowns] I felt an immediate improvement in the basement, but that diminished quickly. After the internet became way more accessible...

Distance between two garages facing each other.

If you are at all interested in boating that is the trailer to try, as they have the longest wheelbase [typically /ft of trailer compared to a camper/utility. They are typically easier to back up (but may need more space due to their length/wheelbase) but a cabin cruiser will present visibility...

    Nail lube

For lube on screws I have a hot glue melting pot so as you drive the screws in they warm making it easier(ish) and cools for a "ain't falling out connection when you stop turning. IDK for nails if/how well that would work. Just a thought Harry

    Need replacement motor for bandsaw

TSC & Princess Auto used to have a pretty good selection of fractional HP motors, pre C19. TSC is now "Peavey Mart" and was supposed to transition to PM from TSC but "things is different now". But if you are in the US there are many cheaper sources, like "Surplus Center", Co-Op, and the like, as...

Mig welding, gas shielding or flux?

I switched to a lease when I was welding at home a lot. The reason I went this way was I could have a bigger bottle, and the bigger lease refills was the same as the small owner bottle. I don't weld at home much anymore [hopefully retiring soon ish +/-] so that will change. So it became...

Mounting a vise off the side of cast welding table?

Well you should make a stout bracket joining both legs on your end of choice. This should alleviate most of your concern of table breakage. Someone visiting or future owner may not share your delicate touch with your vise/table. A receiver mount would be an ideal choice here. Just a thought! Harry

Mig welding, gas shielding or flux?

I think I read the whole thread the jump to new brought me to the first post so I poked around until it seemed new to me. That said I didn't see see anybody preach the virtue of flux-core on rusted pieces. You hit the broken weld joint with the wire wheel, no sand-blaster available, but you...

Asphalt Drive and Concrete Trucks...Oh My

You can clean out the cement truck on a tarp, a piece of plywood, a kiddie pool, a mortar box, even a large garbage pail, etc. The tarp/plywood is easiest just make sure you take a shovel and "cut" the concrete before it cures, that will allow you to break it up afterwords into "bite sized"...

Tecumseh Snowking LH318SA snowblower engine no start

Either is excellent at washing the oil off the cylinder and excellerates wear substantially. New, WD-40 is an ok starting fluid with at least some lubricity. Older WD doesn't seem to be as flammable, IME. A squirt of WD-40 in the cylinder and spray the air filter with either has proven an ok...

Tecumseh Snowking LH318SA snowblower engine no start

I'll go with the plug diagnosis. As noted (a lot) above, outside of vs. inside the cylinder spark, are different! While not an absolute [a leaking porcelain will stymie this tester] try one of this type of spark verifier: https://www.harborfreight.com/in-line-spark-checker-63590.html but for $5...

Plumbing question: Gray water drainage: need P traps?

Dig Doug while that is its primary function by design it offers the additional function that most small vermin/snakes/and insects will resist swimming to get to an unknown area. No not all as some snakes are quite happily amphibious, and therefore it will not help with those, but a better...

    Sandpaper storage

I don't have (or want to manage) as much sand paper as the OP @Laserman 2431 but I did purchase a dollar store file folder similar to @Slowpoke-Canada did and I'm hoping that is a good long term fit. I've built holders like @ZRX61 for other products at places I've worked in the past. I hadn't...

    ZMotorsports Shop Projects 2.0

Mike since you have a decent riding lawnmower [sorry not a fan of JD's equipment] why not look into a front mount snow blower? A vinyl cab is even available [no heat but drier and less wind chill (+/-)] only a small additional piece to store and a bit less work than the semi-manual way you have...

    Show us your welding projects

Functional, pretty and near free, that is a win³ to me! You had a need, in-stock supplies, a plan, and then executed that plan nicely! Are there fancier projects here, sure? But you built what you needed and did it with pride, so that puts it in the pretty nice category to me! Harry

Source for odd size steel tube

For my Never, Never welding table [seems it will never, ever be together], I notched and then welded [3rd pic if you look close shows the muriatic acid line on the coating] on some coupling nuts to the receivers for said welding table. However I placed them at 45° to tighten both in x (or y) and...

    Moai kind of

Sorry I read my response before posting and realized I didn't respond to the remark about the finish. So my rushed not fully expounded response was to suggest a brushed stainless finish [you mentioned polished would be cool AF for sure], while a proper brushed finish should be polished I'm...

    Moai kind of

Royce, with your ratio of wins/losses that doesn't wash! We haven't see a loss yet, and we are pretty sure you don't pull those kind of punches. Or you need a "Powerball" ticket because you are the luckiest ... on the planet! Either way PLEASE keep sharing. For your finish brushed stainless...

    Moai kind of

Those subtle little changes like the forhead tilt, looks so small from the pic's but make such a visual difference it's all in the eye of the artist and you have the eye and then the skill to bring them to fruition! 👍Harry

Source for odd size steel tube

You could remove the "flash" [raised weld seam"] from inside your outer tube. There was a link here on GJ to a U-tube video of a "DIY" tooling looks pretty easy depending on your length of tube. I keep that plan in mind for future builds that require tubing not available in "flash removed"...
