Where to buy retaining clips like these?

Thank You @Beemer! I just added them to my "Bookmarks" that sure looks like a handy site for unobtainable auto gold! Harry

    shimming column

What about heat shrinking the convex side with a suitably large torch to flatten out the bulbous base plate? Clamping while hot to a substantial flat fixture would help enormously as well. Some of the nonshrink compound listed above would be a great idea aswell. Harry Thanx to: @GrayFlattop...

    Mower Battery Dead #@%&

Lawn tractors, snowmobiles (old ones anyway), and small M/C's (etc.) usually have a voltage regulator and or a diode(s) that are famous for giving up the ghost silently! Worked yesterday and no charge today usually they keep the magic smoke in, so no real notic until you are sitting with a dead...

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Salvage Garage

Strouty, I'm kind of in agreement about a DD, but not necessarily a brand new ride, how about a lease return (finding the right one will be a challenge) and then buy the extended warranty. You don't take the really big hit but you get ~similar perks. Maybe just a cheap [I know cheap today YMMV]...

Best way to store ladders vertically while keeping tight against the wall? What's the best hardware to use?

Mike [and others] I have seen a ~4" x 16" self adhesive diamond plate made to protect toolboxes from creeper wheels etc. I'm sure with yours and the others here, skillsets that this protection for the walls would be a easier than a cakewalk. I did 2 "Google" searches but the ~2 million results...

Sill plate vs top plate size

Bill solid only? I'm wondering if you could just fill the hollow 2 core CMU's. Harry Added thought, could a curb [@ 6" wide] be poured on top of the 8" CMU's

Whats my dads old toolbox worth?

If you have a son or hope to (daughter and or grand children as fits) start adding inexpensive tools for them to learn with. To personalize it add a label to the inside lid with appropriate nouns ans verbage, ie; grandpa's pride and joy Hobby (wo)man II/ Jr. Harry [this was not a legacy piece...

Sill plate vs top plate size

Is thre a code reason for not being able to use a 6" CMU for the top course (It is already there is an even better reason)? You may have to fill the top course of 8" CMU's before the 6" caps are laid, but this (6"CMU's) would create an ~even surface inside and out. Harry

    Mower Battery Dead #@%&

Deep discharging a lead acid battery will cause serious longevity issues. I didn't know that it was caused by sulfation (TY micromind), I just knew (as also stated by a few others) they were never the same. Harry

    Workstation crane

Overhead requires a 5x safety factor (min.) here in Ontario Canada. Schedule 40 is maleable iron (typically black pipe but not always) and is not suitable for structural applications. You should stick to HRS solids and forms (angle [tension light shear] c & I/H beams etc.) CRS solids, EREW, DOM...

    rattle_snake's random shop projects v0.1

That sounds like an reasonably accurate approach to this situation! Just set the bearing on some parallels on the table of the drill press (mill if you have one) and set height and just let the machine do the work! Quill stops may be needed if the bearing is longer than the stones...

Tried getting stuck manifold bolt out... Welded extractor inside

YES! I would and frequently do add some lube to the equation. Choice is based on my best guess as to victory. Low chance of victory I use kerosene (easy to wash out for round 2) 50/50 some air tool oil (better lube and not so bad to wash out). If I feel victory is imminent I'll go all in with...

Doodad to cover metal shelving sharp corners?

To stick on your cap of choice try some "Windshield urethane" as it is pretty sticky stuff but expensive. A cheaper choice is "Gorilla Snot" [weather strip adhesive,] this has that nick name for a reason! Harry...

Bought my first welder; The journey begins (learning to weld).

Been awhile since I burned many rods but my memory shares this approach but I recall ending up at around 30 -45°. You will need to find your happy place with your power supply/rod choice and then have fun! Remember to remain consistent for your practice bead beginning to end, then change on the...

    Strongest welded joint

Well my internet armchair quarter backing thinks that that tube as pointed out will be the weak point as others have said! That weld joint [C] could be strengthened by the two plates as Daniel proposed, then I would add a plate at a 45° angle inside touching the inside corner then plug weld...

    Show us your sewing projects!

I am not sure your humbleness is appropriate heere Kerry! Knowing where to pull and tug for your "Bull Dog"...

    ZMotorsports Shop Projects 2.0

I finally convinced my wife that one of those chamfer tools would be the best Christmas present ever! I have played with it, but only a bit. It does seem to cut nice, but a powerhouse it ain't! I plan on a table, but after looking at the "SWAG OR" unit it doesn't appear to be an easy...

Things to add or consider before closing up shop walls?

If you are including water and sewage/septic consider a spot for an "RV Hook up". It maybe nice to be able to have guests without actually sharing your house. Harry
