    Garage exhaust evacuation system

I installed a whole house fan in the ceiling of my garage. It was in a hallway in my house before we went central air. It is 2 foot sq. and installs right over the ceiling joists. Works like a charm to evaquate bad air from the garage. (I don't have any windows). Also works well to get hot air...

Condensation on Soffits from Mr Heater?

Chad, you're on the right track. A fire-place or stove store should have this piece in stock. I just had a gas fire stove (looks just like a wood stove but, runs on natural gas) installed and they used the same part. There should be some fireplace shops in Canada.

    where to put heater vent?

Don't know where you are from but, here in MA the vent has to 3 feet above the highest peak. I have a Mr Heater 45000 and have mine mounted in the center of my garage, in the rear about a foot down from the ceiling. It works perfect. Went up straight thru the atic space and out and up 3 and 1/2...

Condensation on Soffits from Mr Heater?

I agree. All that warm exaust is flowing back against the house and probably causing most, if not all of your problem. I am surprised that the inspector let it pass. Mine had to be 3 feet above the tallest roof line. (the peak)

Opinion Poll: Hot Dawg or Mr Heater??

I have a Mr. Heater 45,000 heating my 24x40 and it's plenty warm. I don't run it all the time, only because I don't have an on-going project right now. Heats up fast and is warm enough to work in shirt sleves. Wall and ceiling are both insulated. Dave

    220 live line

A 220 line should have a double breaker or a 30 amp breaker. It is usually a larger breaker in size than the normal 15 or 20 amp breaker.

    Wiring MR Heater 75,000

Most cities or towns require you to have an emergency shut off switch. I mounted mine right by the side door. When I am done in the garage and the heater has cycled down I just flip the switch to off, then when I return to the garage again I just flip the switch on. The furnace fan comes on and...

    Framing question

We took out a wall like this between my kitchen and living room. Made a temp wall on both sides of the existing wall, then removed the partial beam that was resting on the wall that we were removing. Brought in 3 lamanitated beams 2x14x21 feet. Cut the roof joists to fit them in and one by one...

    Cracks in dry-wall tape! Help

Scott I used premixed compound (the stuff you get at HD in a 5 gal pail and I used a paper mesh tape. The tape was self adhearing so I thought it would save a step. Naaaaa it didn't and I'll never use it again.

    Cracks in dry-wall tape! Help

I'm seeing a trend here. It seems like the changing temps have a whole lot to do with the cracking. I know now that the first mistake was to use the mesh tape and I think I may have used to much compound. I finally got so fed up with it that I left it unfinished. Oh well it's going to be a long...

    Newbie from Mass.

Hi! This appears to be a great site. Looks like a good place to hang out. Name's Dave, from Western Mass. My garage is a 24x40 detached with heat. All that's left to do to finish it is the drywall taping. Wish I'd have had some one do it when we built the garage. Oh well, it'll give me...
